This was my major worry at the start of the DMP as I need (not want) a car for work. I discussed with CCCS and they said it was ok to take on agreement if neccesary as I need a car to work, no work no salary no money to pay DMP so makes sense to find a solution. The car costs me an arm and leg in garage bills but am hoping to carry on for the 2 years I have left rather than entering agreements. Fingers crossed. If neccesary I may have to do hire car stuff for a while. Good luck.

That would be my argument as well- I am hoping that we can maybe speak to the finance company and continue to finance the remainder of the car (slim chance but good prove record with them) - so frustrating as built into my plan is £259 pcm for my car, again essential for work. Not looking to reduce DMP either - have managed to raise it twice within the last 2 years, now paying £844 pcm so chipping away at a 2016 finish - we shall see! - Knew this bump was coming though!

Afternoon everyone
well after posting the above a couple of weeks ago i spent approx a week feel sick crying and generally feeling like my life might as well just end as we had messed up our childrens futures. However last week came to my senses and decided i needed to fight back and i could do a dmp myself, we accept we got ourselves into this mess and that we need to pay it back but it will have to be at a rate we can afford and the creditors will just have to accept that.
So last week i sent letters to all creditors about the fact we were getting advice and looking to start a dmp and asked them to hold charges etc for at least 30 days, i then sorted bank accounts out and have cancelled DD and plan to send out offers this week and ask for standing order details. I feel so much better and have to thank all the people on these boards thank you as you have all helped me to get to this point.

Hey, well done you. It feels good starting to make decisions and just doing things sometimes help you feel more in control - I know it did for me. I was in a dark place when we went on our DMP, we were accepted by CCCS, but just starting the process felt good. BTW, I did a short blog about the DMP process, if you google the info in my sig you'll find it.
You've done really well :T

Very well done to you! Don't forget there are places like Debtline that will help. There's also a new one to help self managed called Cashflow. Pinot grigio maybe able to help you on that one.

Does anyone know if a Transcash payment or a standing order is quickest?
Our direct debit is still not set up for CCCS and I desperately wanted to get a payment in for February and I know it has to be with them by the 10th. If I pay it today by either Transcash or a standing order, will it be there in time?
If it isn't, will they just start the DMP in March instead? Or will this mess everything up?
I emailed them to ask yesterday, together with a load of other questions, but haven't had a response and I have no credit on my mobile to phone.
Am having a very stressed day, following a bad weekend. Still struggling trying to set up new direct debits for new bank account, trying to get the information we need is like trying to milk a male rhinoceros! :mad:LBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Hello kitkat
I am a real newbie here but have already found the help and support offered on this forum a massive boost in a very stressful and traumatic time.
You sound like you have come through a really black time and most importantly, come out of it fighting. Well done and good luck :TLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Have you called the post office re transcash and bank for SO and asked them to tell you how long it would take?
Surely you should be able to do either within a couple of days.
Good luck

Thanks very much HH and why didn't I think of that
Still don't know what to do as both say 4 to 5 days. I just can't see how it can take that long when it's all computerised and should be instantLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Panic over, I managed to speak to CCCS (on the work phone
) and they said a standing order set up can be with them the same day so our first payment goes tomorrow.

Hey TTFTM, did you see the message back to you in the sticky at the top of the page - handy to know info.
And well done on the start of your DMP.
