DMP & Mutual Support Thread - Part 8

There will be things I can do, we have lots of mince and some lamb in the freezer to make meals with, cereal in the cupboards so just need lunch stuff. Although we aren't overdrawn we did have DH's OD that I could have temporarily dipped in to, but obviously that's not an option now. It will be ok once we start getting some money in the account that isn't swallowed up by debt payments!0

First payment for us today as well, i also had to speak to the Yorkshire bank to close down our current accounts as they were still active so they couldn't accept CCCS's offer, but thats all done, and the lady on the phone was very reasonable, mind they probably sit in the same buildingLBM 2 and the OH is onboard sept 12, DMP will start on the 1st November, DFD who cares as longs as it comes:)

Yes I am hoping that it will make a big difference. I am keeping the money this month rather than handing over to CCCS because the car needs servicing (do a lot of miles to work) and I have to settle my heating oil bill, then there's Christmas..............
The only cloud on the horizon is my job is looking increasingly at risk:(Time_to_face_the_music wrote: »Oh I love, Love, LOVE the FOS :smileyhea
They have just told us we have won the case against NatWest and the dreaded OD. £192 interest will be refunded, interest is now frozen and the account will be defaulted :j
This will now be paid off in less than a year leaving an extra £150 towards other creditors :T
Oh happy day
Well done TTFTM - one in the eye for NatWest. Always cheers me up when we win against the banks:DDMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

I have to say CCCS have been a godsend. My first payment went on the 1st October, and they have changed my life! I can sleep at night now. The best thing I did was tell my girlfriend the extent of my debt
I am seeing a solicitor about my impending divorce too on Monday, so feel that things are finally moving in the right direction.
The DMP budget is difficult at first, but you soon learn to stick to it. The amount of food I was wasting before is incredible. I have lost a stone in weight too as I am eating what I need, and not what I want. Downside, all my clothes now don't fit, and I only have a £30 budget for clothing this month.
All my creditors bar one are dealing exclusively with CCCS, and both creditors and CCCS keep me well informed. PaydayUK keep chasing me, but everytime they call, I have directed them to CCCS and they seem to listen for a month and then come back to me.
Had a couple of blips with my girlfriend. She owed me some money at the end of September, so she approached me with pride telling me she had done a transfer to my bank account. I told her I hadn't given her my new bank details yet and she went white as a sheet. She'd sent £40 to my old account, which I can't get back because overdraft facility was withdrawn.
Two weeks later, she approached me, as she knew I was sticking to my budget and told me she had sent me a £20 gift to my bank account. I was like "are you serious?" She'd done the same again.
Still, at least it's £60 paid off one debt that I wasn't expectingDebt Free Wannabe

Well done to you and OH on taking the steps you have taken so far :T
You are in the right place to get help, advice and above all, support. Try and read through some of the past posts, when we were starting out, I read right back to the beginning of this thread and also some of the past ones. I quickly learned I didn't know anything about debt or DMPs and I am now very grateful to have learned so much from here
Please stick around and ask anything you need to know, there is always someone here who will offer useful advice or just listen if you are having a bad day :A
thank you for the warm welcome!0 -

Yup jobs are very uncertain for everyone I guess. I work in the voluntary sector where funding for jobs only lasts for a few years and then you have to start again. With the recession funding is more difficult, plus being in Monmouthshire the perception is that it is an affluent place to live - so why would you give it money? Now if I lived over the border in the Valleys area then you can get lots of funding. So fingers crossed we will be successful. If not then it is back to job hunting and other people my age seem to be finding it really difficult so I'm getting a bit scared:eek::eek: My OH earns a good wage and we could survive on that now we have paid the car loan off but there wouldn't be much money left to pay CCCS.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Does anyone know if I am meant to cancel my existing bank account once the bank transfer is sorted? I bank with Lloyds and have a credit card and loan with them (no OD), would they even let me cancel my account?
Thanks for all your help so far! I can't think of anything else at the moment, much to the detriment of my home life and uni work0
