Can I join this thread please?
Myself and my partner are sending off our application to cccs today and the letters to our creditors.
We've opened a basic account with nationwide and changed all our incoming and dd to it.
Our debt is (some are joint some are separate but we are in dmp together)
Barclays loan, Barclays overdraft, HSBC loan, tesco loan, vanquis, barclay card and k and Co catalogue.
I'm feeling really frightened because we haven't missed any payments yet as my mums been giving me money for us to survive but now something has to change.
I have 2 small children and my partner works and ive convinced myself I will have bailiffs at the door if they don't accept the dmp payment.
I have PTSD From an incident that happened 4yrs ago and it's caused me to have anxiety so im in a total mess right now.
Hi RubyLou and welcome :hello:
Well done to you and OH on taking the steps you have taken so far :T
You are in the right place to get help, advice and above all, support. Try and read through some of the past posts, when we were starting out, I read right back to the beginning of this thread and also some of the past ones. I quickly learned I didn't know anything about debt or DMPs and I am now very grateful to have learned so much from here
Please stick around and ask anything you need to know, there is always someone here who will offer useful advice or just listen if you are having a bad day :ALBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

.... Dont see it as a sign of failure going on a DMP, like me see it as recognition that your acting like an adult because YOU realise YOU have a problem and YOUR delaing with it as an ADULT.
Take my word for it that it isnt an easy journey, you WILL have hard times BUT at the end of it YOU WILL be DF.
Well said. Our DMP ended nearly a year ago, there were some bumps along the road but the end result was well worth it.
For those of you just starting out this thread and the DFW forum are a really good place to pick up tips, advice and inspiration.Proud to have dealt with my debts, became debt free on 03/11/2011. Repaid £54,723.41 LBM May 2006.

Good for you! I have also been told by HSBC that they haven't had any letters from me or CCCS, we have written 4 times. They are useless - I thought Halifax were the worst but I think that medal now goes to HSBC!!
It must be a delaying tactic they use to get more interest and charges out of you. Nasty.(need that raspberry blowing smilie again!)0 -
Hello to all the newbies coming on board. You'll get great advice and support on this thread so stick around.
It is interesting how so many of us feel as though we have failed because our debts have taken us over. I don't think we should shoulder all the blame. Who pushed credit at us when times were good, who upped our limits, gave us loans, mortgages, overdrafts etc.? Yes you could say that we should have been more responsible but personally we managed fine until the recession hit and who's fault was that? Not mine and not yours either. Who mis sold us PPI? Barclays and RBS got fined for manipulating interest rates and HSBC have been in the news recently for money laundering.
I am paying back my debts and intend to pay everything I owe but sorry - no, I don't feel bad about being on a DMP and I don't feel bad about not paying back interest either. Yes I agreed to pay that interest when I signed on the dotted line but I think the banks have had their pound of flesh from me.
Sorry rant over.
(3rd attempt to get smilies to show! everything I touch this week breaks down!)

Hi All,
I feel great that I found this forumSooooo today was the day and payplan conducted the telephone interview with me and my best option is DMP, which will take 2.5years to complete and I will be totally debt free.:rotfl: I cannot wait. I'm just over £20K in red but can't live on payday loans any longer just to keep me going.
I am a bit worried in terms of charges and freezing interest but I hope it will go smoothly.0 -

Evening everyone, and hi to the newbies just joining.
Well I am in a celebratory mood as I have just paid the last HP installment on the car and now I can truly say it is all mine:j
It feels really good to have at least one debt out of the way and now more money to go towards the rest.
Had shed loads of letters from Halifax today. The accounts are all joint so I get a letter and OH gets exactly the same letter too. Good to see that all that interest I am still paying is being well spent.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Brilliant news GUO :T
I hate that double letter issue, all that wasted postage and stationery
Oh which reminds me, does anyone else have a Co-Op bank account and do you get statements every 5 minutes < only slight exaggeration. I have looked everywhere to change it to online statements but can't find it and I won't phone them as it's the usual 0845 number. Anyone any idea how to stop the written statements?LBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin
