For anyone who may be wondering, my letter was along the lines of:
I have had this account for 17 years, since I was 13. I have been a loyal customer of HSBC.
Wonga - a pay day loan company - have treated me better than HSBC in terms of my DMP.
I again request that interest charges are halted to allow me to reduce my balance further.
And it worked :j
Maybe the man in charge is having a good day and feeling generous!Total Debt: £0 [STRIKE]£33,043[/STRIKE]

It's a woman in charge of the debt side and she never has a good day! :rotfl:
I'm thinking maybe it's more due to the amount that you now owe which means I have no chance as I owe them nearly 7k :(My letter was similar to yours and also pointed out that I'm on low income, young children, circumstances unlikely to improve for a long time. I was instantly rejected but told my comments were 'noted'.
Great news for you though. Hopefully a year of interest free means that you can make a big dent in it. Well done :T0 -

I'm going to hit them where it hurts. I'm going on a solo dmp, then they will see exactly how low an income I'm on and how much I can afford. DH currently subsidises the payments but it makes more sense to go solo because all of his creditors have dropped or lowered interest. I've written to HSBC 4 times since July and CCCS have written too. Now they're saying they never heard from CCCS and will only write to me. Large banks don't care about customers, we are just a number to them. Smaller companies still need us to recommend them to our friends even if we are having trouble making payments.0 -
Thanks guys, yeah I will just show them a payslip from last month... I think it will all start on December 10th ready for the new year... I thought I would be near on debt free by the end of this year... When infact I am deeper in debt... 2013 will be when it all sorts itself out! Thanks again guys! XxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0

Going back to what someone said earlier about having CCCS on your side and attitudes changing as soon as you mention them it's amazing isn't it?! It's like a trump card! XxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0

Ive eventually had some contact from Lloyds about my overdraft. They have offered payments for six months then a default (as i cant afford to pay the balance off), or to default now. As our DMP is for 5-6 years, is it worth going for the default now?
also - has anyone renewed their fixed rate mortgage while on a DMP? Ours is up for renewal next year and we usually stay with the same company (due to a low LTV after the drop in house prices) - Im just worried they might credit check us and we would fail?
Any experiences appreciated!Sealed Pot no 20110 -

Have they said if they will freeze the interest if you default now? If so, I would definitely go for this.
Lloyds TSB like to review everything 6 monthly which has caused us huge problems as they will only speak to CCCS but CCCS forgot to send them the information, so Lloyds reintroduced full interest on both of our accounts

Good for you! I have also been told by HSBC that they haven't had any letters from me or CCCS, we have written 4 times. They are useless - I thought Halifax were the worst but I think that medal now goes to HSBC!!Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35Now £27,470.20 :T57% of debts cleared:beer:0 -
I dont know Bertman just had a call this morning from Halifax on CC saying they received my letter but nothing from CCCS. spoke to CCCS and they said they think Halifax are talking about my letter with token payments. I had also spoken with them last week and Halifax had said they would hold the account for 30 days so why did they phone again. Said they will hold again for another 30 days so we will see. Am writing to BOS on my OD charges today too. problem is you get letters from one address and then from another so who is to say they are getting our letters when they are all over the place.... frustrating.LBM Sept 2012
