  • Hey guys,
I'm on a self managed DMP, and my car has just cost me £850
So I have agreed with the garage 2 payments £425 each, which is roughly what I am paying my preditors, so I have wrote to them all and sent them £1 token payments and advised them all regular payments will resume on 21st Dec....
So I am taking 2 months out, I will send them all another token payment of £1 each next month...
Now I'm waiting for the fallout.......

    But I have learnt they can't have what I don't got :D

Hope everyone has a good weekend :T

    Wise words

Hope they are better than you expect. As you say they can't have what you haven't got.

You and your family come first.

We keep telling them our DMP number. If they continue after what I told them today we will be sending them a letter to put everything in writing. But, told them this verbally today. So, we will see.

My son has been with a team around the family for support for his behaviour for 2 years and under a paediatrician just as long. But, because he was so young it was not easy. The school have put everything into place and he is now being taught 1-1, but not in the classroom. We've applied for a statement with the school. The TAF were useless. They came up with all kinds of silly things like we exposed him to old Godzilla films and rock music, which has made him aggressive. Oh, and Star Wars.

The school has now taken over from the TAF, thankfully. He's had speech therapy assessment and will be seeing an education psychologist. Paediatrician is ordering joint autism and ADHD testing, which everyone thinks he has. But, a specialist teacher noticed he may be having petit mal seizures (eye rolling, eyes glazing over, stopping what he is doing, etc). So, he is being seen by the GP next week for a referral for full blood work and an EEG.

Wow that's a lot to deal with, but it sounds as though he is going to get the assessments he needs. It is so much easier dealing with a problem once you actually know what the problem is.

Morning all, I am having a really bad day today, can't stop crying thinking about the mess we have got ourselves into, just when I think it will all be ok something else rears its ugly head. It has been such a rotten year for us this year I will be glad to see the back of it!

On a more positive note you have all inspired me to dig my slow cooker out and beef stew is cooking as I type, nice bit of comfort food for later!

Hey savvysass, hang on in there, I'm sure things will get better.

Sending hugs to all those out there feeling a bit low down.

    Morning all,

Back to slow cookers! Aldi have one on offer from today 6.5 litres for £18.99 Thinking about getting one but am going to check out prices first and have to see if I have any money left to pay for it as we are getting a bit close to pay day now. They are also selling a soup maker for £39.99:eek: but I wouldn't bother with one of those. I'd make the soup in the slow cooker and then just whizz it in the blender.

That sounds like a good price.

What the **** going on with the soup maker?

I have learnt to wait until payday (most, but not all of the time of the time!!). I feel more positive if I have a few pound in my purse 'just in case'.

Hello! We are thinking of doing our DMP self managed, even though we have been in contact with Paypal. The reason is that we negotiated with our creditors before we even knew what a DMP was !I would love to know the pros and cons. I feel maybe we would be wasting Paypals time as we have already negotiated, but maybe I'm wrong.
  • Self managed DMP is not for everyone, but I personally have no problem discussing / negotiating with my creditors :)
I have never been with CCCS or pay plan but both have really good reviews, initially I thought if I can't sort it myself I will go with one of these charity's, however all my creditors (of which there are many ) have stopped interest and many have passed me onto DCA's.

So far I have had no issues (with the exception of NDS which is now been passed over and all going well) with anyone, although I think over the next couple of weeks this may change.

But the car needed work doing on it, this was not a luxury, it's a necessity!!

I have long since stopped losing sleep over my debt (which is £60k ish) the best thing I did was self manage my DMP...

Enjoy your Sunday evening people :)
