DMP & Mutual Support Thread - Part 8

  • Have Payplan managed to get the interest frozen on all of your debts?

We are with CCCS and we have been generally happy with the service but we do find it very frustrating that we are still paying a large amount of interest, and when creditors tell us that they will stop interest if we reduce our payment but CCCS refuse to allow this.

We have thought about going it alone but are then concerned that the other creditors will start reapplying interest, though we have made a recent rule that if 2 more do start, we are going to go solo and take our chances.

You urgently need to find out what has happened to your September payment and what Payplan intend to do about this. There is definitely a Payplan representative on this forum but I haven't seen them post as frequently as CCCS staff do.

I think I would phone Payplan and say you need an answer today, the payment to be made by Monday or you will be making a FOS complaint.

  • The problem is that a default notice is not necessarily a default and the two are confused by many people. We get a default notice every month from most of our creditors yet still have no defaults after 8 months. We were told RBS had issued a default but it appears that they changed their mind :undecided

    Hey TTFTM,

Good point. I was in a bit of a hurry and missed that. Sorry savvysass, default notice is a formal letter from the creditors usually sets out what payments you've missed and what's needed to bring account up to date. Ignore it as you're in a DMP, some creditors will continue sending them for the duration! I've got various copies of these in my DMP file (tesco value concertina file - invaluable).

We are on box number 2 from the £ shop! :T

First one was bursting at the seams, second is filling up too. As you said absolutely invaluable, both for quoting their own words back at creditors or for forwarding their nonsense to CCCS or the FOS :)

I can't wait for the big bonfire at the end :rotfl:

Just received a letter from Barclaycard, they are suspending the interest etc until they hear from CCCS, Capital One have issued us a default notice which I understand is standard, waiting for Halifax now eek for the overdraft (£1000) and personal loan (£4000) has anyone had dealings with them?

We are still being charged interest for one of our Halifax CC's and charges but not interest on one bank account overdraft. We had another CC which had a small amount on it and that has been passed over to Blair Oliver Scott, and another small overdraft on a separate bank account where interest and charges have been stopped completely.

One piece of good news today, the car passed it's MOT:j

Do, mine's been invaluable. I already had a solid plastic one for all household bills, the new one I bought for DMP only and it's a godsend when you need to refer back or tell a creditor what's what ;)

am off to get my file today as the pile on the mantelpiece is getting bigger, had a conversation with a cocky brat at Marbles yesterday saying that they hadn't accepted our offer from CCCS and i had to set up a promise with them, basically told him that he knew and i knew that the money would be paid by CCCS whether they accepted it or not they are obliged to cash it, and to get on and default it and we may get somewhere as i couldn't afford to pay anymore, it was really liberating actually, was wondering why i have been so scared of these all poweful banking gods for so long, yes i accept we ran up the debt and i will pay back every penny but at a rate that i can afford
LBM 2 and the OH is onboard sept 12, DMP will start on the 1st November, DFD who cares as longs as it comes:)
1 year down 5 to go and now under 30k and 10% paid off
  • If it's any consolation Lizzy, Marbles were one of the first to stop interest for us. They gave me a few weeks hassle with letters pretty much every day and then without any notification, the next bill came with no interest and it's been the same since.

Fingers crossed it's the same for you :)

    All well?

Any top MSE tips or plans?

I'm on a challenge of spending as little as possible in food. Emptying cupboards and freezer. This will hopefully allow me to get ahead little in terms of some extra pennies for Christmas and will also mean I can make the most of festive bargains that will see me through Jan / Feb.
