DMP & Mutual Support Thread - Part 8

Hi all,
I made a delicious and cheap big pan of food last night.
Frozen white fish fillets, cheapest possible, some cheap frozen prawns, tinned basic tomatoes, tesco value stock and tesco value spaghetti. Chuck in a few herbs and a bit of paprika if it's there, I rinsed some tinned haricot beans and chucked them in (could use any tinned beans) and I had a bit of natural yoghurt that I chucked in at the end. Basically, then followed this recipe, but doubled the quantities:

It will do us a good three meals0 -

All well?
Any top MSE tips or plans?
I'm on a challenge of spending as little as possible in food. Emptying cupboards and freezer. This will hopefully allow me to get ahead little in terms of some extra pennies for Christmas and will also mean I can make the most of festive bargains that will see me through Jan / Feb.

Hi Twin :hello:
Lentils are the flavour of the month here. Soup, stews, base for cheapo posh sausages etc. Throw a few bits of onions, carrots and celery in and they go for days.
Am going to try and get another shoulder of pork later, we have run out of pulled pork and I am craving it! Cheaper than barm cakes and much nicer are Icelands bake your own ciabatta rolls, 2 packs of 4 for £1 and the sell by date is ages, I think the last lot was December and OH is off to buy more in a few minutes.
Oh another thought on lentils, Lidl do really good frozen fish fillets. We bake them with a squirt of lemon juice on the top, then wrapped in foil. Then make a little sauce of chopped up tomato, onions and a spoonful of pepperonata, £1 per jar from Home Bargains or Aldi. Fish on top of the lentils then pepperonata sauce on top. Tastes really posh and is mucho cheapo :jLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin
