DMP & Mutual Support Thread - Part 8

Well, that's it, i've posted the forms to CCCS, posted the letters to my creditors, changed my bank account, set up my "jars" for weekly budgets, filed everything so i can keep track on correspondence, in fact I was feeling so organised today that i even paired the socks up in the bottom of the ironing basket that have been lurking there for years.
So i guess i'll just sit and wait to see what happens. Having read everyone else's experiences I am under no illusion that this is gonna be an easy ride. But, if it if means that I dont have to rob peter to pay paul anymore and my children can have some kind of life without us all going without just to pay the minimum on my debts then the card companies can phone me as many times as they like.... i'm ready for them!
I'm sure i'll be here a few times, either feeling completely liberated by the whole thing or drowning my sorrows with a bottle of tesco value wine when the going gets a bit tough but i'm prepared for the rollercoaster that seems to be a DMP (or at least i think I am?)
Oh, and managed to get CCCS to just do the DMP in my name - thanks for all the advise.0 -

Well done :T
Yes it is a rollercoaster at first and it's not always easy but after the first few weeks, seeing your debt reduce every month makes it all worthwhile :j

thanks for that - will see if i can get that in my budget for next week!
And i enrolled on the smoking cessation program today (which is long, long overdue) so hopefully it'll be an extra £30 a week towards my DMP (or wine, whichever is the most necessary at that point...)0 -

NatWest did this to us in our first month. Interest, fees and £6 a day charge for being over the OD limit
8 months in and they are still charging us full interest but the debt is still reducing. Before the DMP, we staggered from month to month, getting more in debt each month and never paying anything off the balances of the CCs, let alone the ODs. 8 months on and we have paid off £12,750 or 15.6% of our debt. :j
It does work but it takes a little time to settle down. You will get there and in the meantime, please don't let the creditors stress you out. Tell them to contact CCCS, ask them to stop interest, write letters of complaint if they won't, contact the FOS if they still won't. It doesn't always work but it makes us feel better that they are having to deal with the hassle instead of usLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Wine and chocolate are priority spending

I'm a chocolatier so i'll skip the chocolate thanks - working with the stuff 20hrs a day kinda puts you off a bit! Good for the diet though:)0 -

Wow a chocolatier!! That sounds like a lot more fun than it probably is in real life:rotfl:
Well done for getting the DMP underway, you won't regret it even when the road gets rocky.
As to Aldi - I am becoming a fan. My shopping bill (since the new store opened) has dramatically decreased. I may even have just about enough money to get the car through the MOT next week.:jDMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Good morning all
Finally some good news, first payment to CCCS to begin 10th November, phone has been very quiet apart from Barclaycard phoning 10 times a day but I ignore it.
Got another job, start at the beginning of November so fingers crossed things are finally going in the right direction.
The relief of having it all sorted is immense, to those just starting out on their Debt Free Journey don't be scared, you have taken control by facing up to things, and things will only get better x0 -
Hi All,
Just a quick question?
Are CCCS going to send me a password to access my account online. Not received anything in the last week since it was set-up.
Also, I was considering ringing all my creditors just to see if they have had contact from CCCS. Worth doing?
G1WLBM 12.09.12 - £53K in debt.
DFD - 11.07.2019 (OMG).
New DFD is 28.10.2018 due to paying the absolute maximum.
Thanks to everyone on the DMP forum, and to SC for helping me out of this huge hole.0 -
