    Thanks,

I am so worried about it all. Got to find a new bank on monday but not sure how long that process takes or abput swopping direct debits over. Hsbc are m$y biggest worry woth loan overdraft and credit card. I feel sick even seeing an advert for them! I have been really honest in my budget and perhaps have gone too tight. Is it too late to change or if if is too tight can I change after a month or so.
I am hoping all the phone calls and letters that I am going to receive will not be the end of my 10 year marriage. I love my family so much(3 young kids)

    Welcome

Well done on getting this far.

Good luck telling your wife. You will need to as you need her onboard with the budget. Encourage her to come here too so posters can help. There are a number of posts like yours if you go back through past threads. Your wife and children will have benfitted from the money. Just remember that you have had more time to get your head around the situation than she has.

It does get a whole lot better. What's most important that you love the four of them, you will find a way through.

Keep us updated. We will be be thinking of you.

  • G1W,

At least now when you talk to your wife about the debt you will also be able to explain what you are doing about it.

  • Thanks all,

I have felt on the edge for ages and have had some very bad moments, but even though dmp not even set up yet I do feel better at hopefully finding a solution.

I have a million questions. One more for now. I rang all the cc on friday to tell them I can't make min. Payments in october. Should I do the same withloan companies, coop and citroen finance. I am with cccs. Are they good? They didn't tell me whether to contact them or not. If my dmp is set up by 1st nov do you think all debits will be transferred to new account by then? I am worried about hsbc using my october wage to do setting off before I move to new account. Perhaps I should hold off sending cccs template letter to them until after mortgage is paid.

Sorry for rambling, head is a mess.
    LBM 12.09.12 - £53K in debt.
    DFD - 11.07.2019 (OMG).
New DFD is 28.10.2018 due to paying the absolute maximum.

Thanks to everyone on the DMP forum, and to SC for helping me out of this huge hole.

  • Hi all,

I have been in a DMP for the past 2 months, and so far it seems to be going well. Of my 3 creditors, the 2 where I have the largest amount of debt have got sent me letters to say they have accepted the repayment terms. I have had one which is still sending me letters though and has now sent the amount to collectors, my most recent letter was a demand to pay the full £1,141. I have contacted the DMP company I am with and they have said that I will continue receiving letters until an arrangement has been made, but in the meantime to just forward them on when I get them.

I'm concerned that this creditor hasn't accept the terms of the arrangement, and if this is the case, should I be calling them up to agree a repayment plan or do I leave this to the DMP company?

This is causing me a lot of stress and anxiety as I'm really worried about what might happen next. Could someone please advise what the best course of action for me to take is as I really don't know what to do about it.

    Hi and welcome

They have no choice but to accept your payment. Most will never tell you they accepted or not. Applying interest is another matter.

    Whi is your dmp company?

Which DMP company are you with? They should be sorting this out for you as it sounds like you are with a fee paying company and they ought to do something to earn their money.

    Hi all,

Have not been on here for a long time, but have beenreading closely as I am about to start a dmp. I have approx 60k in debt and have not slept or ate properly for about 6 months.
Contacted cccs on wed and had email today so hopefully will sort out.
Main issue for me is not being able to tell wife. I know she will find out but can't bring myself to tell her. I am. So ashamed of myself.

One quick question about my poitential dmp. I rany my cc companies on friday to tell them about my plans. Virgin (mbna) told me the dmp wouldn't be accepted if longer than 5 years. My plan shows it is currently 7 years. What do you guys think?

    Thanks

    G1W

    Hi there

I too am just starting my debt free journey and its not easy but a relief to know there is a way of repaying and still having a life. My husband did not know anything about my debt and it was hard confessing and yes it was a difficult conversation but we are in it together now.

We changed our bank account to Natwest, just a basic account and it could be done online, I opened it tues or wed, had the card yesterday and pin today, all up and running!.

If you have anything on Finance CCCS will treat this as a priority debt like mortgage etc so try and make your payments to them as for the rest send them a token payment next month along with the CCCS reference number then breathe! Its all going to be ok x
