:hello:Afternoon fellow DMPers. Lovely sunny day here too.

Never tried eco balls - sorry can't help there.

Have explored the new Aldi and have been impressed with the fresh veg prices especially the 'super six' offers. The cats seem to like the tinned food. There are some things that they don't do that we like. They do big pots of fat free yogurt but they don't say they contain probiotics or whatever it is that yogurt is supposed to have to 'aid digestion'. Never mind there is always Waitrose:rotfl:

Does anyone know if the coffee is any good? I don't drink coffee so can't make a judgement.

Just caught up on all the threads. Felt rubbish the last couple of days, total failure with money etc but today feel on top of the world!

Hi Savvysass. I felt a total failure with money too. No one in my family knows that we are on a DMP and I have only told one close friend. It is embarrassing to admit that we were complete numpties with our money. Even now looking back I inwardly groan at some of the really stupid things we did that I haven't even told you lot about and you don't know me!

However we are at last addressing the problem and feel so much happier. Trying to look at the positives now and not the bad stuff. You can't keep beating yourself up forever.

    Hi thank you!

We haven't told anyone either and don't think I will, and actually it's nobody's business only ours, and I know I can come on here when the tough days happen and get support without judgement from you wonderful people x

I have also started shopping at Aldi and found everything of equal if not better standard to the big supermarkets APART from the coffee! I bought Aldi's own Gold Blend and it was bitter, just not for me, I have made savings elsewhere but my coffee stays as Nescafe!

    Hi all

Just caught up on all the threads. Felt rubbish the last couple of days, total failure with money etc but today feel on top of the world! I havent heard anything yet from CCCS (early days tho I only sent the paperwork tues/wed) so assume they wont take the first payment till 1st Nov at the earliest.

I have been doing sums with wages etc for the next couple of weeks and in Oct if we are just paying token payments we can build a nice little buffer if anything goes wrong with the car etc.

Fingers crossed all the paperwork sent to CCCS was in order and I can get the ball rolling, anxious now to start moving on and getting our lives back on track.

Thank you all for your kind words and for sharing your stories on here, you are all an inspiration and a help to us newbies on this long journey xxx

    Hi Savvysass

I was in the same situation last week. Paperwork all sent to the CCCS and was just waiting to hear back. Had a phone call on Monday from them, everything fine except for the Wonga Loan Reference Number. Sent an email to Wonga asking for this and got it next day, informed CCCS straight away.

Also received my password for the CCCS Client Login on Thursday and can now see my list of debts and make any changes if needed.

Like you my first CCCS payment is due on the 1st November so this should give us October to build a small cushion for any emergencies.

    Good Luck with it. :D

LBM 2 and the OH is onboard sept 12, DMP will start on the 1st November, DFD who cares as longs as it comes:)

  • Hi all,

Have not been on here for a long time, but have beenreading closely as I am about to start a dmp. I have approx 60k in debt and have not slept or ate properly for about 6 months.
Contacted cccs on wed and had email today so hopefully will sort out.
Main issue for me is not being able to tell wife. I know she will find out but can't bring myself to tell her. I am. So ashamed of myself.

One quick question about my poitential dmp. I rany my cc companies on friday to tell them about my plans. Virgin (mbna) told me the dmp wouldn't be accepted if longer than 5 years. My plan shows it is currently 7 years. What do you guys think?

    Thanks

New DFD is 28.10.2018 due to paying the absolute maximum.

Thanks to everyone on the DMP forum, and to SC for helping me out of this huge hole.
  • G1W,
Our Virgin account was dealt with by the main part of MBNA as soon as we started our DMP. They accepted the offer without any argument and our plan was 6 years+. They also stopped interest straightaway. They later sold on our debt to a DCA who is continuing to take the agreed payment. They have been one of our easier to deal with creditors.

  • Thanks,

I am so worried about it all. Got to find a new bank on monday but not sure how long that process takes or abput swopping direct debits over. Hsbc are m$y biggest worry woth loan overdraft and credit card. I feel sick even seeing an advert for them! I have been really honest in my budget and perhaps have gone too tight. Is it too late to change or if if is too tight can I change after a month or so.
I am hoping all the phone calls and letters that I am going to receive will not be the end of my 10 year marriage. I love my family so much(3 young kids)

    Hi grant1wish,
Sorry to hear of your situation, but congratulations on starting your debt free journey. New bank account shouldn't take long to set up so don't worry about that. If you re getting harassing phone calls you can ask for contact to be made only in writing or give them a different number so they can't contact you.

I would imagine that sharing the burden of this with your wife will help you deal with this easier. You might be scared or ashamed, but at the end of the day, it's only money and your family is what is important. Having debt has been made a part of our society rightly or wrongly. You should be proud to be one of those who decide to deal with their debts and no longer be a slave to the preditors! I would talk to your wife, I'm sure she'd support you, I know in the same position I would!

You're in a great place for support and advice here, we have all had those feelings of guilt and uncertainty.

All the best for your journey, it will all work out I'm sure :)
