    Hi Marzom and welcome :hello:

We had terrible problems with NatWest at the start of our DMP, and 7 months in, they are still charging full interest on an overdraft account.

We found that departments in NatWest appeared to have no communication whatsoever between them and that every letter they have sent us is pretty much gobbledegook. We currently have the FOS attempting to stop the interest charges but whether they get anywhere or not is another matter.

Have NatWest ever acknowledged your DMP or sent a letter accepting the offer of payment? Are the CCCS payments showing up as credits on your account?

I think you should phone and ask CCCS to contact them again tomorrow and also get the FOS involved. I don't think your DMP will fail but you may need to deal with NatWest separately if they won't co-operate wth CCCS.

Sorry this has you so stressed at the moment. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

Thanks for this. Natwest have not directly accepted or declined my DMP. Just sent letters about my overdraft. So they appear to be ignoring it even though they get the payment every month. I have contacted CCCS by email, as I needed to get this off my chest and no chance to make a private phone call today. I will let you know how I get on.

    We used something like this:
    Us
    Date

    Them

    Dear Sir/Madam

    Account No: XXXXXXXXXX

Thank you for your letter of DD-MM-YYYY concerning the above account. We are sorry that you feel unable to suspend interest charges on the above account. The majority of our other creditors have agreed to the offer of payment and agreed to suspend any interest charges still accruing. They have accepted that to continue to charge interest would not assist us in our present financial difficulties, and can only serve to increase our total debt.

As you are aware, we have already paid considerable sums in interest to our account. If interest charges continue, the monthly instalments we are paying will not even cover that interest. Also, the cooperation of our other creditors who have agreed to freeze interest already would be put at risk.

We would therefore be grateful if you would reconsider your decision not to freeze the interest. This would mean that the monthly payments we make would actually reduce the balance outstanding to your company.

We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

    Yours faithfully

That's good! I'm going to save that for future needs! Mine just said please reconsider as our circumstances will not be changing anytime soon. How could I forget all the interest they've already had from us? Doh!
  • I can't take credit for it, it's a template I found here and we customised ours a bit too :)

So, first day of our DMP and the car fails the MOT :(. Don't know how much it will be yet but more than the £90 emergency money we've saved so far. Looks like I'm eating noodles again for the rest of the month! I'm more concerned about how we are going to pay for DS bike for his birthday. You can't tell a 4 year old he'll have to wait until payday. I will have to raid the garage when they're at school and sell something. I daren't ask for a reduced dmp payment in our 2nd month.:o

We failed ours too Tigsmom. :(

We were told to expect around £450 costs and it turned out to be £198, so fingers crossed yours isn't too much.

Sorry to hear about the car

Simular thing happened to me.........CCCS reversed my payment once. The thing is it will not have gone to the creditors yet, you have a legitmate reason for it. Better to delay dmp for a month now than be so down o your food stocks etc that you have to defer into the plam in a few months time. Less hassle that way.

    Give CCCS a call

Let us know how you get on.

Just been told around £110 - £130 so we should just about manage if we use up food in the cupboard. Mum has just reminded me that she still has some baby stuff at hers so I can put that in the classified too. Fingers crossed someone buys it. We are going to have to hold our breath but hopefully we will scrape through and still get DS his bike.x

Massive fingers crossed for you. You never know what people are going to buy, so with any luck someone will bite! :)

The dreaded MOT - I think I get more nervous waiting for the outcome of the MOT than anything else. I always see those adverts from Kwik-Fit and Nationwide advertising MOTs for £35, but then i think they will just 'find something' and bump up the price - am I just cynical?!

OHs car is due MOT in november. Trying really hard to get some money aside just in case. The brakes got replaced a few weeks ago so at least that is one thing off the list.

Here's a tale for you. A few years ago DH got a voucher for a free car health check from a main garage (can't remember which). He took car in and they said everything was ok. The next week MOT due so he decided to take it to same garage. Car fails MOT. So DH goes home, gets the results of the health check and tells them if there is something needs doing they are doing it for free! Since then he has always taken the car to a small garage near work. They rely on word of mouth for business and often get their business from DH's work so don't want to upset anyone. That is why we trust them so if they say it needs doing then it really does need doing. Unfortunately if you are not a mechanic it is far too easy to be ripped off by garages.

Yes quite agree. Neither myself or OH are mechanically minded so can't argue with the garage either. My MOT is due in October, better start saving now:eek:

Now the grill in the oven keeps tripping the fuse box, so I am guessing the element has gone. Can't afford to fix it this month so it will have to wait. Sigh.
