We just need the money we've got to last util Tuesday....then we're not going to rich, but it will be a relief (for a while anyway)

    Hi,

Don't panic. If you haven't missed any payments yet then it's likely to be an in-house collection agency (for example, Blair, Oliver, Scott appear to be your average DCA but they're actually the in-house collector for Bank of Scotland, Halifax etc). The debt could've simply been handed to one of these in-house ones to manage - in many ways these are better because they stop % and charges and *most* seem to be fine to deal with.

What's the name of the organisation calling him? Also, you need to try and stop them ringing work phone numbers - you need to tell them to pack it in, there's a template letter on the National Debtline website.

    SAAC

Don't worry, not panicking! Just surprised really. He hasn't spoken to them, the message just gave the name of the woman calling, and says DCS and a 0800 number. Google isn't giving me anything obvious, will we need to ring to figure out who the heck they are to then get an address to send the back off letter to? :)

looking into it, seems it's not related to stuff here, but likely someone chasing my student loan from the US. My parents are dealing with that one, and it's deferred for a while so not sure why they're calling and how the heck they got my husband's work information?!? But will investigate. Grrrr... not what we need!
  • Afternoon all :D

Well Payday have accepted my F&F but say I'll get a letter after I pay (confirmed by them replying to my letter by e-mail). I've said thanks but I need it in writing before I send the cheque - I hope I'm doing the right thing and they won't withdraw the offer :o

W0nga have said no, so I've increased it a little bit - they want £400 I've offered £200 now and also asked for a full statement listing all the charges they've added on and the payments I've made as I have no idea what they have added on in interest or fees

Out of interest how often should I receive statements from everyone I owe money too - does it vary? Its almost a year since I started my DMP - and what a relief of a year it has been, even with the hassle at the start. To those just starting out it really does get easier, its the best thing I did - money wise - and I wish I'd had my proper LBM years ago.

Have a nice weekend everyone
  • Just caught up with all the posts and I wanted to add a couple of things :D

Someone (can't remember who sorry :o) mentioned buying a printer but ink being expensive. if you look you can get ink refill packs from tesco that come with bottles of ink and a syringe. you simply drill a little hole into your ink cartridge (they have a little drill bit included to do it) then use the syringe to refill the cartridge. Its very easy (but messy - use newspaper and gloves) and I do it and haven't had to replace the ink cartridge in over 2 years! the ink cost buttons compared to a cartridge, and comes with full instructions for all the different makes of printer.

    http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=257526779

That should be a link so you can see what I mean. it doesn't give instructions for all printers but I just drilled a small hole in the top of my cartridge and that worked fine.

I hope I haven't confused you :o it really is simpler than I think I've made it sound!

The takeaway secrets book is brilliant - the burgers are spot on as is the doner kebab and all the trimmings - enjoy

Just thought I would share some good news. Just having a chat with Mum-In -Law on the telephone when she was telling me she has to pay £500 for her 2 dogs to go into kennels when they go to oz for 3.5 weeks this March. Then I had a brain wave. We only live about 0.5 miles away and we have no pets etc. So I suggested that we move into her home for the duration and house/pet sit and in return she would give us the Kennel fees.
She said yes as she was quite worried about putting them in kennels for such a long time.
So its win, win, win for all concerned. We get extra money (also save on our heating bills) and she gets happy dogs.

I'm getting a bit worried and annoyed with CCCS. My 1st DMP payment went out on 1st Jan. My creditors have all been fantastic about freezing interest etc. I've had 3 calls from Nationwide today and a letter from Barclaycard threatening to pull out of the agreement as they have received no money from CCCS. What's going on? They took it out of my account 3 weeks ago!

I think that although they take money from you on the 1st of the month the payments are not made to the creditors until 20th-25th of month. I have a CC with Barclays as you and they had no problem waiting until after the 2oth. Did you have a long period of making token payments prior to starting your DMP
