Don't assume you won't get calls in a Sunday talisker!! It does happen, depending on your creditor. I used to answer and then put my phone on the toilet & flush it!
In other new, Co-op said "Thabks for applying for a savings account, we've got some checks to make & we'll let you know" This was Monday and have heard nothing since... though a savings account has appeared on my Internet banking account, so I must have got it! Time to transfer stay spare dosh into it!
Hope everyone is well & having a good weekend!
They can and will ring on a Sunday, I have had this before. I now ring the creditors before they ring me - that way I am prepared, when they used to ring me I was either just coming in from work, having my tea or doing something els so they always caught me off guard, this way I am in control, I am prepared and have all the info to hand. If I get a letter or statement I ring them up to explain the situation (again), usually they are surprised I have rang and say that they have all the details and that any letters are just system generated.
Its a strange game we are all in!!Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35Now £27,470.20 :T57% of debts cleared:beer:0 -
It was Halifax with me. I did begin answering the phone for about 2 weeks, but after 14+ identical conversations, I told them I wouldn't be speaking to them any more. This was nearly 5 years ago now mind, so things could have changed.
It's definitely a good plan to be prepared and I like the idea of calling them first!LBM - 11/08
DMP - 12/08 - £37,255
DFD - [STRIKE]03[/STRIKE] 02/13 - [STRIKE]£6,454[/STRIKE] £3916 to go! (Unless my PPI & FOS claims are upheld, then it'll be earlier!)0 -

Well done Ed. You have paid off an amazing amount of money in one year and next year should be even better :TLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Bad news about calling on Sunday - seems like you get no peace. Saying that, I didn't get any calls this weekend so fingers crossed. I do have caller display on my hpone which is handy so anything i don't recognise i'm tending to ignore just now. BOS managed to slip through on Friday but they were actually very nice and put my account on hold pending confirmation of payments from Payplan.
Disapointing weekend on ebay - only £16......but i've done another haul through the loft and dug out stuff I don't even remember buying (now thats bad!) that should do reasonably well....fingers crossed.
Just got to get to the end of September then nursery fees will halve as my daughter joins pre-school. So that will free up some money, which I'm sure will then go down the drain on the MOT which is due in October. Then its Xmas....!!!
Roll on DFD. I think I'll be retired by then as well.....
Hope everyone had a nice weeked.Debt Sept 2007 (1st LBM) - £63,000 :embarasseStarted DMP July 2012 (2nd LBM) - £34,000DFD (currently) - 12 years!"Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get up."0 -
Hi all, new here and must say that I already feel better about my situ (I'll try not to go on too much)
Basically to cut a very very long story short, I am in £11,000 worth of debt due to helping out my stupid ex boyfriend a few years ago - I took out credit cards to pay for home improvements and stupidly took out a loan in my name to pay off his debts. He was paying the loan until the inevitable happened and we split up leaving me drowning in debt.
For a few years I have buried my head in the sand however I've had enough and this morning completed a Debt Remedy form on the CCCS site. The monthly payments they have suggested are great for me and my current circumstances and means I will be debt free in (at max) 4 years
I just have a few questions:
Am I doing the right thing?
Will any of my creditors say no?
What happens if my loan debt gets sold on (again!!) it was with Moorcroft, now with Buchanan Clark and Wells
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.0 -

If you cannot live and pay your debts then yes.
One of my creditors said no because they felt we hadn't offered enough, so we had to up our payments a little bit and then they were fine.
Four of my debts have been sold on and I haven't found any of them a problem. Just keep paying the agreed amount and it should be fine.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Thank you!! If the loan does get sold on again do I just let the CCCS know of the new details?0 -

Yes just let them know and don't forget to keep an eye on the balances of your debts too if they get passed on. All my debts that have been passed to a DCA or similar have had charges and interest stopped, but find out what the new company are planning to do just in case they have a different idea.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421
