GOOD NEWS!!!
Had a letter from Barclaycard today saying they will freeze interest and charges as long as they hear from us or CCCS before end of August with update! Sending our update and token off today so hopefully CCCS will also be in touch as our DMP starts 1st Sept anyway.
Well done!! We will all get there in the end, I have noticed that there are a few of us starting the DMP's at roughly the same time so lets all hope we can get out the messes we are in as quickly as possible!!!:jDebts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35Now £27,470.20 :T57% of debts cleared:beer:0 -
CCCS have amended the monthly payment and will send renewed lower offers to all our creditors. Hope no one throws their proverbial toys out of the pram!
In non DMP news it is DD1's sixth birthday on Thursday and she has a paltry group of presents from us, on the plus side they have all been paid for with cash and not credit as in previous years.
Thank for the support guysDMP with Stepchange started 1/6/12 for £44k

Heard from Cahoot today - no fees and no more interest - hooray.
Still waiting to hear from three others - surprised they have not rang or written especially as they have cashed the token payments.0 -

Hope your offers are accepted Pheebs. As to DD1 hopefully only being six she won't notice too much. I think children can understand the concept of mummy and daddy not being able to afford much. You can do lots of fun stuff without spending a lot of cash and the time you spend with your children is more valuable to them than material things (until they get to be teenagers of course:eek::eek:)DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

My DD is also 6. Up until now we have managed to get stuff off ebay and wrap it in bubble wrap. She never noticed it wasn't new or boxed. At Christmas we were like you and couldn't afford a lot so I bought her main presents then went to the £1 shop and bought a few fillers. This year we had a party at home. I made everything (pinata, party boxes using smash tins covered in wrapping paper, baked cake etc.), made it fancy dress, homemade games and instead of lots of food they won't eat got 3 giant pizzas from iceland followed by chocolate fondue. The kids thought it was fantastic. Made me wonder why I've spent so much in the past!:rotfl:
It's maybe a bit late for you but it's worth being cheeky. I have just clinched a deal with a local playcentre for my DS birthday party. It's advertised at £8 per head but I told them I can't afford it and asked what they could do. They got back to me today with £5 per head if I provide cake, balloons and party bags. I already have a lot of leftover party stuff in my cupboard from previous years and my son is delighted. They're even throwing in the mascot! Hope your daughter has a lovely birthday and I'm sure she will love her presents.:)0 -
Hi folks.
im just wondering on time span?
my hubby applied or his dmp mid july- we received an email from CCCS asking for further info on 26/7 we responded with all the info and weve hard nothing since? Is this the norm?
Ive sent token pymts this month as he had defaulted come the 1st so hoping this will keep the creditors happy(ish) until the dmp starts.
Thanks in advance

I'd wonder about the time span too.... I think some of the more experienced members will be able to help you there!
Yes i noticed that quite a few of us are starting DMPs at the same time. Will be nice to see how everyone fairs in this process - hopefully all good!
Well done pheebs on paying for presents using cash - what a novel idea! I must say I am actually loking forward to this Xmas for the first time in a long time as I know that we HAVE to use cash and if we can't afford it we don't get it. Simply as.
Bit of disconcerting news on my front. Well, maybe not disconcerting, just a bit worried. A cheque came out of my account, that I had genuinely fogotten about. I wrote it about a month ago, thinking it had been cashed by the person weeks ago, but its only just come out. I have a £400 o/d with my bank which I wasn't using, and it was next on my list to cancel, but now I've gone £100 o/d with this cheque.
Will my other creditors be aware I am into my o/d? I don't know how they work and I don't want to annoy them right at the start of my DMP! I will get ebaying this weekend and get it paid off asap. Anyone have any experience of accidentally using credit whilst on a DMP?Debt Sept 2007 (1st LBM) - £63,000 :embarasseStarted DMP July 2012 (2nd LBM) - £34,000DFD (currently) - 12 years!"Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get up."0 -
Vanquis have accepted my DMP offer
what a relief! Means as well I can answer my phone now as they were hounding me with phone calls from all sorts of different numbers so I just stopped answering the phone unless I knew the number.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I'm pretty sure when I set up my DMP it took a couple of weeks. If you are concerned please call CCCS they have always been very helpful when I have called them.talisker78 wrote: »Bit of disconcerting news on my front. No your other creditors won't know about your overdraft unless of course they are linked to your bank. Being on a DMP means credit is a no no, but if you can get it paid off by ebaying then it shouldn't be a problem and you won't need to tell them. Life on a DMP can be hard sometimes and creditors don't need to know every little thing.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421
