I hope Barclaycard are that good to us! So far all we've had is a £12 fee! I just put that down to automatic letters and right hand not speaking to left...

    Good News Bertman.

    Thanks Tigsmom,

I am surprised about Barclaycard to be honest, I did ring them a few days after I sent the letters saying I was going on a DMP to explain and they said they would freeze everything and wait for CCCS to get in touch.

I really hope that they are good to you, its nice to get a breakthrough once in a while.....:j

    Morning fellow DMPers

So last night I got the letter I'd been looking forward to/dreading from my old current account holder Natwest. Good news- I now have my default notice filed away so that's one more clock ticking down. bad news, they intend to recover my O/D in full and made no acknowledgement of my DMP (despite taking the payments they've been sent for the last 3 months).

The letter mentions possible court action, which obviously isn't nice. I'm sending a copy to PayPlan today. but should I speak to Natwest myself? What do the wise people of the forum suggest is the best action to take? I'd obviously prefer that it didn't go to court and the try to bankrupt me (would they do that? Surely they'd end up with less money than through teh DMP.)

    Thanks guys

I would ring them. Lots of people seem to have trouble with Nat West regarding overdrafts. If you are paying regularly then there is little point in them taking you to court. The court do exactly the same thing as Payplan. They look at your i&e and decide what you can afford to pay. Plus it goes in your favour that you have taken positive steps to address your debt ie the DMP and you have been paying regularly. You can't pay what you haven't got after all.

Sounds like scare tactics to me. I am constantly surprised at how often people fall for these. I've known people not pay their rent in order to pay off debts when they get threatening letters, and this is when they are already under threat of eviction for rent arrears!

Got home tonight to find two statements from Barclaycard, it took a while for things to get right in my mind... The statements had a really low repayment and ....... No interest or charges, I checked the amount that CCCS were planning on paying and it was the same amount, so Barclaycard have agreed to the CCCS payments without any other letters....
So far MBNA and Barlaycard have agreed to the CCCS payments, Halifax are thinking about it and Santander and Natwest haven't done anything....
    So far soooo good!!!

Great news on Barclaycard. Fingers crossed for the rest :T

One department of NatWest does not know what the other is doing and they routinely send letters which appear to have been produced by a random word generator. They may not be charging us quite as much interest as M&S but our NatWest OD has definitely been the most problematic of our debts since starting our DMP.

My rule is never to phone creditors but I really think you need to do in this case. It sounds like one department of NatWest, I am guessing the collections department, are not aware you are on a DMP and making regular payments.Like Growurown has already advised, I would go for the phone call and try to get this sorted.

Good luck and please keep us updated :)

    GOOD NEWS!!!

Had a letter from Barclaycard today saying they will freeze interest and charges as long as they hear from us or CCCS before end of August with update! Sending our update and token off today so hopefully CCCS will also be in touch as our DMP starts 1st Sept anyway.

Really pleased to hear everyones good news, if also from a slightly selfish point of view as I'm still waiting to hear if my ccreditors will accept or reject my payment plan. I'm not convinced they will accept it, but everyone starting out seems to be getting good news so far. Here's hoping I hear something soon.

    Positive thinking, positive thinking....!

I was most concerned about Barclaycard so this has made me feel much better. Of course we are still to hear from HSBC and Santander so they could still be awkward but it's a step in the right direction! Yay!!! :j
