Hi, can I ask if the Halifax just stopped charging interest or did you request? We have been charged 12% for last 11 months and like you only paid a tiny bit of capital back. We are awaiting the FOS to look at this for us.

We did ask early on in our DMP and the answer was no. The interest seems to have stopped on OH's Halifax cc a year after we started the DMP, but we didn't ask for it this time. It was something I was planning to do as part of my annual review. No harm in asking again I thought, and I wasn't holding out too much hope either, but on checking my records it looks as though the last two statements haven't had interest added.

Must admit to being a little scared of the future. I'm lucky enough to have a mortgage already and a car thats not on finance. But once the defaults kick in I'm stuck for 6 years which just seems an awful long time just now. Trying to reassure myself that in the long run this is waaaaay better. Would you agree with that?

    Yes I would.:D

Also, my creditors are Tesco, Sainsburys, Capital One, BOS and Barclaycard. Has anyone had any particularly difficult times with any of these creditors on a DMP? I've read that HSBC can be a bit of a pain - thankfully I'm not with them - but are any of these known to be the awkward?

Tesco, Capital One and BOS have been no trouble for us on our DMP. BOS are a bit of a pain because they have accepted our payments on a 6 monthly basis only. At the end of the 6 months we just have to get CCCS to send them our financial statement again.

Have just completed my first annual review with CCCS. I have been able to increase my payments by £50 per month as I have cleared the arrears on my electricity bill and changed my phone/internet provider to a cheaper supplier. It brings my DFD down to 3.8 years now.

Thanks in advance for any advice you have. I'm glad to finally being part of the DMP 'club'!

    Hi talisker :hello:

We only share one creditor, BOS, they gave us earache for about 6 weeks then settled down, defaulted us and stopped interest. Fingers crossed it all goes as smoothly for you :)

I got a letter from HSBC which stated I had missed the last payment and that this was required immediately. I rang them and explained that we were now on a DMP with CCCS. They said they had received my letter but couldn't act on it as it wasnt signed. I explained that CCCS had written to them with an offer but they said they hadn't had this yet.

They explained that they will chase for payment next time but for 30 days they will suspend all charges and calls, they asked for CCCS to resend the the offer. He did say that after 180 days that the debt would be given to a debt collection agency if they can't agree a repayment.

Interestingly though they asked to update my details - I have got a cheap pay as you go mobile which I have given the number to all my creditors, but then they asked for a debit card to link to the account - I said I don't have one... I think this was a way to get cash without my say so - or am I being too suspicious.

Strange thing is - its very quiet, we haven't had any contact with anyone apart from statements for over a month. Our first payment to CCCS went through on the 1st August and will be sent to the creditors on the 25th.....

    Its weird!!!!

I agree - I find the whole thing very wierd. Its like the calm before the storm. I've had very little from my creditors so far. I made my first payment to Payplan on 1st, so I would assume they will have their payments by now. Just waiting for the crackdown, but hopefully they won't be too hard on me and will accept the payment plan.

Sunday tomorrow - no post, no phone calls. Bliss.

Don't assume you won't get calls in a Sunday talisker!! It does happen, depending on your creditor. I used to answer and then put my phone on the toilet & flush it!

In other new, Co-op said "Thabks for applying for a savings account, we've got some checks to make & we'll let you know" This was Monday and have heard nothing since... though a savings account has appeared on my Internet banking account, so I must have got it! Time to transfer stay spare dosh into it!

Hope everyone is well & having a good weekend!
