Thanks that's what I was thinking. Paying the Council Tax 1 off at the current rate will take 9 months, the extra £21.50 a month cuts it down to 6 months and then paying the full £71 a month into the DMP knocks an awesome 8 years off our debt free date.
That's super news ikkle :jLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Others have suggested that even if you don't smoke, put something into the smoking heading. I didn't do that (mostly because I'm such an anti-smoker) but if you feel you need a bit of 'wiggle room' that's up to you.
We did this too. I did put in money for smoking although I am anti smoking as well! I found the budget for food really tight although I have two dogs and two cats and eight chickens and all their food is coming out of the weekly budget too. Mind you we sell the eggs so the chickens pay for themselves. I am hoping to make considerable savings when the new Aldi opens and don't have to go to Waitrose any more:j
I am calling all my creditors to check outstanding balances and updating them on the CCCS website ready for my first annual review. In a couple of months we will have finished paying the HP on the car so we will have another £279 to put towards our debts and hopefully we will be debt free in three years time. This of course depends on creditors stopping interest (you know who you are Halifax:mad:)
Just want to say hello to the newbies:wave:

If you get paper statements it should say within where you can send payment. I know it said on all mine.0 -

Couple of things...
Early on in my DMP, I 'overestimated' my costs. I really regret that now as my DMP would be finishing 3months earlier. But I look back and think "Could I have coped without that extra £££?" and I'm honestly not sure of the answer!
Also, would it be worth keeping that HP money and sending it directly to Halifax each month... get the debt paid off quicker - I know this is against the CCCS rules though, but just thinking out loud!LBM - 11/08
DMP - 12/08 - £37,255
DFD - [STRIKE]03[/STRIKE] 02/13 - [STRIKE]£6,454[/STRIKE] £3916 to go! (Unless my PPI & FOS claims are upheld, then it'll be earlier!)0 -
You guys are all so helpful and inspirational
DMP starts next month :j Wages sat nicely in new bank account...how strange to have no minus sign in front of them.
Natwest card have accepted proposed payment from CCCS for me, not heard about DH card yet but fingers crossed. Slightly annoyed with Capital One who have sent me a letter saying they cannot deal with CCCS until I send them a letter giving my authority, obviously I have already done this but they want it on their paperwork grrrr...hey ho a small hoop to jump through I guess.
The main issue we are currently having is Natwest mortgage and loan. These are not included in DMP as they are secured on house and not in arrears...however, Natwest are being !!!!!! about transferring the DDs to our new Barclays account - their theory is "it would be easier for you to pay cash in each month"
Firstly that wouldn't be easier and secondly I do not know how that would work anyway given that the payments are coming out of an account which IS included in the DMP. Thought it was all going a little too smoothly.
Has anyone else had this issue? Any advice?0 -

Do you have online banking? If so, just cancel the DD's and set them up manually in the new account. Tell Natwest where to go. How ridiculous that taking cash from one account and putting it into the other each month would be easier?!!LBM - 11/08

This is very sound advice - look after yourself and your family first and foremost, the debt free journey on the DMP will be measured in years so a month extra will not make any difference at all.
We have paid token payments for two months due to the way the DMP has started and when CCCS took their first payment - today by the way!!
We are just an account number to the companies which their computers spew out letters according to what you have paid or not.
Thank you SO much for your advice. It's a relief to know you've done what I want to do and lived to tell the tale!! Did you get LOADS of horrible letters? Just want to prepare myself!!
Ellie, thanks for posting your inspirational story. xLBM:27/07/12
