Has anyone had problems with HSBC? DH & I are starting a joint DMP, however only one of the debts is in my name - HSBC CC. The rest are in DH name. Guess which one is turning out to be the most problematic? I keep getting phonecalls at ridiculas o'clock despite me having written to them twice asking them to write, email or contact CCCS. I've had nothing in writing from them. I'm starting to wish we had started 'his and hers DMP's' because my monthly minimum payment to them was actually £10 more than my monthy wage so I would've like to see that go to court! If it wasn't for DH & his wage they would've had a lot less from me a lot sooner.
Hi Tigsmom, I don't think the companies have a standard charter, they seem to deal with everyone differently.. HSBC were one of the first to agree to our DMP and we have heard nothing despite only making 2 payments of £1 for 2 months running.
It may be worth getting your details together and calling them, remember they can't have what you haven't got!!
Good luck!:jDebts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35Now £27,470.20 :T57% of debts cleared:beer:0 -
ARRRGGGGGHHHHHHH I am soooooo :mad::mad::mad:
What is it with flaming HSBC/Metropolitan???? I have rung them numerous times advising that my 2 debts with them are being dealt with via CCCS on a brand new DMP. All I get from them is, 'Oh we have not received their paperwork, we dont acknowledge that you have contacted CCCS' what a load of c***!!!!!!!
Got two letters today, one saying your account is on a final demand and the other one saying your account is being passed to D & G Solicitors. OH's CC is already with D & G and they have actually been quite good!
But metropolitan have got to be without doubt, the most useless DCA I have ever come across!!!!! I was going to ring them but I know that I will lose my temper, so I can feel a really snotty letter coming on!!!!!!!

Metropolitan and DG solicitors are all part of HSBC. Metropolitan is HSBC's inhouse debt collection, DG solicitors is again part of HSBC.
Banks use different company names, and especially solicitors, to make you think you are being chased by someone different and legal action is possibly being taken :mad:LBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Hi all, DD1's bargain birthday went pretty well, the only traumas were the sort that overwrought 6 yr olds cause and nothing to do with any debt / lack of money issues
We are incredibly lucky that my Dad is able to help us financially, and last week he bailed us out again when our car broke a spring and needed £250ish of repairs. I am equally mortified that age 37 I am still needing his help and pathetically grateful that he can help out when we need him to.
I'm another one who was dreaming of a lottery win to change my life and felt curiously miffed that it wasn't my numbers this week!
It probably isn't a very MSE thing to spend on the lottery, but I figure for a £2 outlay a week it is my only chance of becoming a millionaire
DMP wise we are waiting to hear from creditors who CCCS will have contacted re the new lower payment offers since we lost our child tax credit / working tax credit...I can't remember which is which *shame*.
Payday on wednesday and need to take DD for school uniform and some normal clothes too, she's shot up in the last couple of months and everything is too short for her now. As much as I love shopping, I hate that I have to buy frugally for her nowI want to argue to Mr Pheebs that it makes more sense to buy quality that will last to be handed down to DD2, but he is sadly right when he says that we can't afford quality and it has to be Primarni or second hand. He also doesn't want DD2 to have to wear all hand me downs as she gets older.
I hate that my girls are paying for my stupidity and selfishnessDMP with Stepchange started 1/6/12 for £44k

Now working on early repayment of mortgage and mortgage advance with Barclays £92k0 -
Hi everyone
So glad there are resources like this and help/support.
I've been through a separation and am currently working through a divorce. As I have two children, my wife is staying in the house we joint own, and I can't face stopping paying for the mortgage (my soon to be ex-Wife cannot pay for it due to her own commitments). I didn't really have a place to live, and to get by was spending more than I was earning. I thought I was handling it well, borrowing from Wonga. Then I borrowed from Quick Quid to pay wonga back. Then I deferred repayment on my quick quid loan, while also taking out another wonga loan. I have been borrowing from Peter to pay Paul so to speak.
I worked out my finances over the weekend, and this month is the breaking point. I am over extended on credit (I have £2,000 with Argos and I have a £1,000 overdraft). With all my personal loans from the past I am facing missing payments. I haven't missed anything as yet, but it isn't stopping me from losing sleep (have I got this early?) At the end of the month, I will be paid circa £1,200, but my commitments next month are £2,100 as all payments are due. I thought I might be able to get a debt consolidation loan, but Nationwide (my building society) won't touch me with a bargepole.
So I have been in touch with CCCS today and will be setting up a DMP. Their debt help tool has helped me put everything into context and I think I can see a route through this for the first time in a long time. The fact is, I am earning a decent amount but really have got into a mess with payday companies. I suppose the moral of this story is don't use payday loan companies!!!
Does anyone have any similar stories? I want to be free of debt - excluding the mortage I have £8100 outstanding. I want to get this down to zero! Should I open a different bank account without an overdraft? Does anyone have any other tips along with a DMP? Have I caught this early before receiving notices/debt collectors?
Thanks in advance for any advice - if you have any questions about my situation, please don't hesitate to ask. I will answer - this is part of my acceptance of the problem, rather than burying my head.Debt Free Wannabe

Yes I agree PDL's are bad news. Hmmm tips for a DMP......
1) Don't ignore your creditors, any queries sort them out asap
2) Put a few extra's in your DMP. For example maybe you don't have lunches at work or dry cleaning to be done, but put them in anyway. Put the money away for a rainy day fund. Yes it means it will take longer to pay your debts back but it also means you have something to fall back on if things go wrong.
3) Check your balances regularly, the statement from CCCS is an estimation. By checking you will see if creditors are still charging interest and if they are you can try to get them to stop.
In theory you shouldn't have any credit when on a DMP so the overdraft is a no no, and you shouldn't bank where you have debts as they may take all your money. If you have an existing overdraft you can include that in the DMP too. Your debts may be passed over to debt collection agencies. Four of my debts have but it hasn't been a problem.
Good luck and probably lots more good advice coming from my fellow DMPers soon:DDMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

I have applied for a standard current account with Santander - am I likely to get rejected - I didn't ask for an overdraft facility, but do they do credit checks to see if I can bank with them?Debt Free Wannabe

Sorry don't know. Have you defaulted on your debts yet? If you haven't the credit check should be OK if they do one that is. If you are refused you could try the Co-op, lots of people have used them successfully.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Have looked at co-op but tried to open account with Nationwide after someone recommended them earlier. Mind you, judging by the experience I've had so far I may well be going to co-op anyway. They only have one branch here though, in the city centre (not near me) so their online facility and number of cash machines I can use would have to be good.
I expect that someone has already told you this (I'm just catching up with my reading) but you can use any Post Office to pay money into or get money out of the Co-op. We have an account with the Co-op and have never been near a branch.
