Could you put on a deep voice and pretend to be him?
Sorry being silly here!
Get a male friend/relative to pretend to be him? You would only need a balance, nothing complicated.
If Mr. BR just does the id stuff and gives his permission for them to talk to you that might work, or is this a step too far?DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

That's what I'm hoping to get him to do but it takes a lot of nagging to get him to do anything 'money-ish'Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

Get MR BR to write letters to the creditors giving them permission to speak to you and for you to go through ID, ( or you write it then get him to sign it lol)...Thats what we did as my hubby hates talking to them too.Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0

Oh that's a good idea, didn't think of letters for that. Were there any problems though when you then rang to speak to them for the first time? Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

It will be fine once you have his written approval. Think positive and all will come together.
BTW peeps as I understand it the creditors have to send statements at least every 6 months (new oft guidance, used to be 12 months). I personally would write to each saying important you keep on top and you are taking responsibility but in order for this you need to see monthly statements as other customers would. I think that would be difficult for them to defend if you later had a complaint with FOS if they have not complied with your reasonable request.

This is what I have had to do, my hubby has severe MH issues and hates talking with anyone, wont answer the phone etc so I rang the companies, he confirmed who he was and now I have his explicit permission to deal with his accounts.
The only problem is the extra expense in phoning these companies, as if they havent taken enough money from us in interest they charge us for the privilege of calling them :mad:I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.

At first one or two said they had not received letter ect so just got hubby to go through id with them and as soon as they asked him anything he said i wish for you to speak to my wife as she deals with the finances, they then asked for his permission and noted it on file for next time, then he handed the phone to me, all future calls i just explained i was authorised to speak to them and had no problems at all.
I talk to my creditors alot now, because they dont scare me like they did before dmp, i feel in control and know if they say anything i dont like i just refer them to payplan and hang up....dont be scared about speaking to them...you are the one now in control!Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
That's the thing though, I have no issue with speaking to them, but everything's in Mr BR's name so we'll have to get the permissions thing sorted out I think. Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

I have read that some very efficient DMPers contact all their creditors every month to check the balance on their accounts, which tells them straight away if interest has been added/restarted/stopped. Some of my creditors have now stopped sending monthly statements so I can't see what they are up to, and I don't have online access. So I am going to start calling them on a regular basis. For so long I buried my head in the sand and ignored my debts, but no longer! Taking out the DMP has put me back in control and I'll be b******d if I let everything go to pot again now. The worst bit is over. I reckon I can handle a few phone calls.
We don't contact ours but if they stopped sending monthly statements, we would start doing that. Keeping the My Debts section on CCCS website up to date is an obsession of mine

Is it worth you trying to phone them then literally handing the phone over to Mr BR just for him to give the permission, then you take over the call again. Do you think he could deal with that?
If not, I think you need to write some permission letters and just get him to sign them.
Good luck BR, you can do this :TLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin
