Just catching up on things, good to see both CCCs and payplan have a "Representative" that keeps an eye on the forums to correct misunderstandings.

Just a quick note, I wasnt complaining about the time taken to pay my creditors, from previous discussions with creditors, I was aware they demand payment on certain dates and occasionally these dates can be missed, with the payment showing as being paid the following month instead. My quote of 18 days to pay a creditor was a simple observation from the timings as reported on the payplanplus account site (ie the money leaves my bank on the 10th of the month, and some creditors donot show up as "OK" until the 28th).

Like I said .. Im 100% happy with my DMP company :D

With respect, it is their view point, not neccesarily a misunderstanding. We are all entitled to an opinion.

I'm happy with CCCS too, and don't have a problem with the way they are funded. After all they have staff to pay and need offices to work from - and why shouldn't the credit industry pay? They take enough money from us, and make big profits and pay their top people huge salaries. OK people may think this puts them in the creditors pocket, but I am really grateful for the help we have received, and for free.

  • Hi. I was contacted by Gregory Pennington after surfing some websites to try and sort out our debts. The guy was lovely and offered me a very tempting solution, halving our monthly debt and saying we would be debt free in seven years. After the initial relief and receipt of the forms, I decided to google them and the reviews are awful. I've now contacted payplan who have taken all my details and are phoning me tomorrow. I'm living on the breadline at the moment like many, but what If pay plan say I have to pay more a month than GP? I know in the long term it's better and my best option to continue with PP but can you negotiate with them? Thanks.
  • I don't want anyone to think we are not grateful to CCCS, we most certainly are. To be totally honest I don't even know where we got the idea from that the interest on the retained payments was their source of funding, maybe it's an urban myth that I picked up incorrectly from the forum somewhere.

But I am still wondering why I could get interest stopped and CCCS couldn't. This is not a criticism it's just a question. I don't understand the whole issue of interest and how banks treat people so differently. I have read posts saying all creditors have stopped interest for some people. On the other hand, some people seem to struggle all the way through their DMP with added interest and charges left, right and centre. Then there is the added problem of banks stopping interest and then restarting it, so you think everything is going well and the end is in sight, then someone moves the finish line and you are sliding back into the tunnel.

I am in a real dilemna. Do we stick as we are, not rock the boat and have the backing of CCCS if we start to run into problems? Or do we go it alone and get a month ahead with our debts? This would immediately reduce our debt by over £1600 which is clearly not an insignificant figure. It's stressing me out and I think I need to stop going on about it because it's doing me no good at all.

I need to be satisfied that we have paid off over £5000 in 4 months and work on reducing our debts even faster by any means we can. Someone give me a kick up the backside and tell me to get on with it please :)

  • Sounds like you are doing really well to me TTFTM.

The problem with these situations is there are no right or wrong answers as the principles are not universally applied as you have been discovering. It can be like playing poker!

    Welcome

PP and CCCS are likely to make you have tighter budgets than GP.

You can try to negotiate by all means

    Good luck

Wait and see what PP say..i was with a fee paying company but when i switched to PP they actually allowed me more in my budget and so i ended up paying less...in the long run PP or CCCS are going to be better as you will be debt free sooner..if only i had gone with them at first i would be now debt free but i paid over 2k in fees instead!!!!!
Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST
  • Thanks. I've gone from initial relief and happiness after the phone call with GP to feeling sick reading the reviews about them, and now worrying whether Payplan are gonna come at me with something I can't afford.i
It's amazing how much money they say u have left over to pay towards debt!? Do I? Lol, I'll learn. This thread is very helpful and supportive and I am grateful for ur replies. Lisa
