Some of our creditors have stopped sending us information every month so that we don't know what the 'true' situation is. Is there a letter we can send asking them for this information? I know without asking that Mr BR will not want to actually ring them. Are they perhaps sending their info to the CCCS? I'm interested in this conversation re: interest as I suspect some creditors might either go back to charging, or might not have stopped and it would be helpful to know.

    Hi BR :hello:

You are just one month ahead of us on your DMP, we started in February, and we are still getting the usual monthly statements from all of our creditors. Each month, I compare these against the CCCS figures and make any necessary adjustments to the debt figures online.

We still have online banking facilities available with some of our creditors so can also check that way but have noticed recently that M&S have removed access to this so I need to make sure they don't stop sending statements too.

I have recently seen a couple of posts from people who thought their DMP was almost over, then got a bit of a nasty shock when they realised there had been interest added that they did not know about and hence they still had money to pay. I think I would be pushing your creditors to provide this information on a regular basis. If Mr BR won't phone, could you write and ask for regular statements?

Exactly which is why I say what am I paying the money for. Creditors still charging interest and giving a % of the whole payment to the company does NOT constitute free advice, just a different way of showing it!

When I called them recently to say a creditor said they hadnt received money I was told they cant make any calls out becasuse they are a charity!

Been to FOS, M&S say I am no longer in difficulty now am 2 years into the plan so tough, have gone back to FOS, grrrrrr

    HHx

CCCS said they can't make outgoing phone calls? Surely that can't be correct, perhaps we can ask Pavan to confirm that one.

I will be calling the FOS today too. They managed to get Lloyds TSB to stop charges on my overdraft but guess what ... they have started charging interest again on my credit card

I don't think we still have online banking options with anyone but I'll check with Mr BR about it.
We haven't had anything from our old bank for months now and it only dawned on me yesterday...so I have no idea what's going on.
Mr BR HATES talking about money and the creditors, he'd much rather it just rumbled on whereas I need to know what's happening.
We've only updated the CCCS website once, I think, and so we'll have to try and keep on top of it more.

Until recently, we still had 3 creditors applying full interest and charges. When CCCS issue your monthly statement, they do not take account of interest so your debt levels can be misleading if interest is still being added. Each month when we receive each creditor statement, I go onto the CCCS website and update all values on the "MY debts" section of the website to ensure everythig is correct and there are no nasty surprises.

Mr TTFTM did not used to be in the least bit interested in money or debts but since we started the DMP, I started waving papers under his nose and after a little persuasion, he is very involved and active at trying to help pay the most we can. Maybe when Mr BR sees a difference being made and a bit of light at the end of the tunnel, he may get more involved. The important thing is that at least one of you wants/needs to know what is happening and I know you do.

    Good luck BR :)

Just had our annual review with cccs and have had to decrease payment by £100. Hopefully our creditors won't start applying interest and charges again.

Sorry to hear that antk. Hopefully all your creditors will understand and be reasonable. Will have my fingers crossed for you. Good luck :)

Yeah, that's what I want to do...update the CCCs (and us!) as to what's *actually* going on.
I've asked Mr BR and one of the creditors can be checked online so that's a start, but the ex-bank will need letters I think

I have read that some very efficient DMPers contact all their creditors every month to check the balance on their accounts, which tells them straight away if interest has been added/restarted/stopped. Some of my creditors have now stopped sending monthly statements so I can't see what they are up to, and I don't have online access. So I am going to start calling them on a regular basis. For so long I buried my head in the sand and ignored my debts, but no longer! Taking out the DMP has put me back in control and I'll be b******d if I let everything go to pot again now. The worst bit is over. I reckon I can handle a few phone calls.

See, this would be a better idea, by far - but Mr BR doesn't want to speak to anyone, and everything's in his name so they wouldn't speak to me...
