I've heard from a friend at JCP that we may start hearing about job offers from the end of next week. They have delayed things a bit as they are finalising the budget so they know how many vacancies are up for grabs.

Can I just ask if you all shook hands with the interview panel or not?

It didn't occur to me to do this at the time - I had a panel of 3 females and they were all very nice but i'm worried now that this is something they could 'mark people down' for...

Its been years since I've been to an interview and am kicking myself now..

I was thinking the exact same thing: I didn't shake hands. But it was all quite informal really, we just had a nice chat beforehand, and afterwards, and only the middle bit (the actual interview) was serious.

I haven't been marked down for it, and they can't mark you down on it anyway - competency based only. Fret not :)

I would normally shake hands, but would give the interviewers the opportunity to put out their hands first, they didn't and it didn't seem appropriate in this case.. I don't think it would affect your score.
I was taken in by one of the panel and the other didn't even stand up when I went in so it definitely wasn't appropriate.:)

i felt the same too for my one. ive always shook hands at interviews but it didnt really feel like they were interested. one person brought me in and the other person didnt bother to stand up and greet me either lol. i still shook there hands tho just incase, they didnt put there hand out, i had to instigate it.

i feel quite lucky i did actually as it turned out later on in the interview both of the interviewers were managers for my 1st and 2nd choice locations.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply. I feel much better about it now. Like most of you, I was brought in to the room by one female and the other 2 remained seated and it didn't seem right to handshake. I'm probably just analysing everything too much now lol.

Good luck to you all

    Hi all,

I would really appreciate it if anyone on this forum who has interviewed for the Southern Wessex region could let me know if they have heard whether they have got the job or not yet?

I got my scores back fairly quickly after interview but no further notification either way. All this waiting is a total nightmare...
  • I had my east london interview friday morning, I shook hands with both of the people on my panel, before and after, thanking them for their time etc.

After my first 3 competences when they swapped so to speak one actually said "you have given 3 really good examples", "I will now ask you about the last 2".

Certainly felt positive after that was said.

    But will wait and see!
  • A colleague and I both had an interview in Newcastle, and we were both told that we should hear something by the 21st. As my interview was on the 13th March that is pretty good going. Lets see if they stick to it lol xx

has anyone heard anything about what is happening with the jobs in Durham?? We applied to both areas, but the Durham applications have been knocked back. The explanation given to my colleague was that this had been done to get those people who had applied for both areas off the system. They will only interview you in one area but are aware of it if you have applied to multiple locations. Durham is the home area for both of us so obviously this is the area of choice. Just seems strange that they would interview us for Newcastle, although I also heard that Durham were taking a little longer to get everything processed, so maybe they were just trying to interview as many people as fast as possible... who knows lol xx Any information anyone has on this would be great.

Just concerned that if Durham hasn't finished interviewing and Newcastle are notifying applicants on 21st, it doesn't really seem likely that they could offer a position to anyone in Durham yet. Did that make sense ??? lol
I was interviewed at Durham and they finished last Tuesday but they were interviewing at another location plus scores were up within 2 days so they were working quick. I was told they didn't know how many jobs they would have and would place successful internal candidates 1st by end of April so not sure when we'll find out. Also my scores haven't been added to the Newcastle area yet so maybe have to wait a little while longer.

Have fingers crossed as I got 40/45 so hoping I get an offer and able to have better choice of location :)

I'm waiting too! I had my interview on 7th March and the scores were posted online the same day. The feedback comments were very brief though. I was told that we would hear back by the end of the month although I think that may be too much to hope for!

    Good luck!
