Just spoken with helpline & WoS are currently just marking those who scored 50% or more on test, if they don't get enough they'll go down to 40% marks
I scored 40% so not holding out much hope (3 kids have mashed my brain). I was an eo in HMRC for 6 years before taking a career break for my kids and then having to leave as there are now no offices less than an hour away from me. Should have just gone back when had the chance, done far too much travelling & never seen my kids.
I think it's a complete disgrace to keep people dangling the way they have done, if that's the case, they knew from the very first day after closing how people had scored, they should have sent out notification there and then that due to the volume of applicants we are only scoring people who got over X%
At least then we wouldn't all have wasted our time holding out hope and checking that frikin website every 5 mins for any change in status, I'm pretty fuming at the lack of communication.0 -
Another day wasted.. Checking email and website... They said today they will communicate results... Aw well... Nae worries...0

I grew up and still live in Medway in Kent, which if anyone has been there will no doubt be aware that it is a bit of a hole, however it isn't any worse than elsewhere in the country and if anything it is held together by it's sense of community. People know each other and do still look out for one another and get involved in their communities. I find the people who rail against the south either have never bothered spending any period of time here or never bothered getting involved in their community even on a small scale, like getting to know their neighbours!
I did my degree in Coventry and have to say there wasn't a lot of difference in the Midlands to the South, ironically my flatmates during my second year were from several places in Kent and London, lovely chaps all of them.
Hardly soulless either, a lot of people still shop locally at one level or another, plus you're overlooking the diverse history, Chatham Docks, Dickens, the seaside areas such as Margate, Whitstable and Hastings, a ton of cultural sites like Hall Place, Dover Castle and the like not to mention infrastructure such as the airports, rail links to the continent and ferries and London, which I always love spending time visiting when I get the chance.
It's completely unfounded to call the south soulless!
Anyway back on subject, anyone here got an application for Kent? I have my test and competency results in but at the moment am still 'on hold'. Wondering if anyone else is out there?! I got 71% overall and 4,4,4,4,6 on the competencies. How has anyone else done so far?
Kent has working class "normal" people. Kent throughout its history has always had personality from wat tyler to jack cade they have always produced communities with spirit and soul. But you have to remember the places you are naming are politically speaking left leaning. Go to places that are heavily conservative in the south. The communities I'm talking about are places like Newbury, Maidenhead, Bracknell, Woking, Salisbury and Westbury where you get streets lacking personality, pubs lacking character, high streets that are busy yet are silent. I call them the towns that need a football teamand a personality transplant.
I've lived in the east midlands for 8 years. It has more to offer than the South. The house are bigger and cheaper. The parks are cleaner. The towns are family friendly. The villages have personality.
Working in London for so many years there is nothing more annoying than listening to a bunch of home counties kids who live at home with their parents aged 30 who read the daily mail and moan about people on benefits. Life is so simple to them and they just want to crush the poor.0 -
Has anyone had results for Staffs/Shropshire that didn't apply for other areas and had the scores copied over?0
-
Just got all 1's for West Yorks!!
Recruitment helpline have given me an email address to send my issues to, as they agree 'it should not have happened' especially as I used the exact same competencies for each application.
Crumbs, really sorry to hear that. Hope you get it sorted. Did they tell you how long they'd take to get back to you?0 -

Bizarre view from someone who claims to want to work in a jobcentre! Think we need to get back to the subject really!0
