The communities in the south are soulless. Everybody is totally obsessed with themselves and nobody talks to each other.

Full of people who have inherited their wealth not earnt it. Home counties children.

    What a load of bulls**t!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Applied and passed for EO and was on the waiting list following interview success a couple of years ago - the jobs that never actually happened - anyone else go through that on here??

When they came up again I was so excited - I got 97% on the online test and thought I was ok - I have a lot of experience at managerial level and have literally last week just completed a degree in business and management - HOWEVER ....I have been informed a couple of days ago that I have scored all 1s on my competancies!!

I honestly cannot believe it - apparently I didnt exactly specify in my answers specific situations - or use actual descriptions -such as ' when training someone I asked them to leave their desk and walk over to the photcopier with me so I could show them how to do it ' - im not being daft - apparently that was how the answers were supposed to be given - or else you ended up with a 1!!!

    Absolutely gutted.

Genuinely pleased for all who have had positive news though so good luck everyone I really mean that.

This want with Birmingham or Derby by any chance that you got all 1s?

Completely agree, the South is a nice place to live. I grew up and still live in Medway in Kent, which if anyone has been there will no doubt be aware that it is a bit of a hole, however it isn't any worse than elsewhere in the country and if anything it is held together by it's sense of community. People know each other and do still look out for one another and get involved in their communities. I find the people who rail against the south either have never bothered spending any period of time here or never bothered getting involved in their community even on a small scale, like getting to know their neighbours!

I did my degree in Coventry and have to say there wasn't a lot of difference in the Midlands to the South, ironically my flatmates during my second year were from several places in Kent and London, lovely chaps all of them.

Hardly soulless either, a lot of people still shop locally at one level or another, plus you're overlooking the diverse history, Chatham Docks, Dickens, the seaside areas such as Margate, Whitstable and Hastings, a ton of cultural sites like Hall Place, Dover Castle and the like not to mention infrastructure such as the airports, rail links to the continent and ferries and London, which I always love spending time visiting when I get the chance.

It's completely unfounded to call the south soulless!

Anyway back on subject, anyone here got an application for Kent? I have my test and competency results in but at the moment am still 'on hold'. Wondering if anyone else is out there?! I got 71% overall and 4,4,4,4,6 on the competencies. How has anyone else done so far?
  • Same for South London but have my Kent results.
Where others have had their results carried across - did this show on the same day?
  • Just got mine for Manchester. 4/4/4/5/4. Just over the pass mark, so pleased about that, but I'm sure they will get people with better marks for interviews. I'll have to wait and see.
  • Anybody had any news for staffs or bc yet? This is just madness, they are giving people 1's that have done the job, passed previous comps and nowm they cant get to interview stage. I really dont believe that someone who as a degree in business and management and vast experiance in the world of work, does not no how to write a comp... DWP seriously need to look at their marking criteria. What ever happened to good whole fashioned common sense.... Red Frankie you must be gutted!!....

Completely agree with you on the above

I got 86% on my test but received 2 x 4's a 6 a5 and a 3 so think i am out of the running just hoping South London will also mark my comps - keeping everything crossed
  • Hi

Just spoken with helpline & WoS are currently just marking those who scored 50% or more on test, if they don't get enough they'll go down to 40% marks :(

I scored 40% so not holding out much hope (3 kids have mashed my brain). I was an eo in HMRC for 6 years before taking a career break for my kids and then having to leave as there are now no offices less than an hour away from me. Should have just gone back when had the chance, done far too much travelling & never seen my kids.

Just got all 1's for West Yorks!!

Recruitment helpline have given me an email address to send my issues to, as they agree 'it should not have happened' especially as I used the exact same competencies for each application.
