I get plenty of sleep believe me:D But I think I will treat myself to Touche Eclat sometime this month:)0 -
I do buy some premium make up/skincare BUT also a lot of my friends and family etc know what I like so I get things as presents and 9 times out of 10 if I get gift vouchers for somewhere like Boots or Debenhams I buy products then - so I don't tend to buy a lot of this stuff myself.0

I guess it depends on an individual's needs. I have rosacea and the only cleanser and moisturiser that makes a difference is Avene, which at £12.50 for a 40ml moisturiser isn't that cheap, the cleanser is about £8.00 for 100ml so isn't so bad. I wish I could use cheaper creams on my face but I'd suffer the consequences and that makes me miserable. All my make up however is from Avon, cheap and cheerful, especially their mineral foundation which is fab, usually goes for about £10 a small pot but you can get it on Eb*y for about half that. E45 cream is perfect for removing my eye make up and cheap as chips. So, all in all, I guess I kind of balance it between the cheap and more expensive. One thing I absolutely will not compromise on is cheap perfume, Aromatics Elixir all the way!!0

Boots have an offer on right now: if you spend £25 on Avene, you get a free cleanser.
I own mainly "low end" makeup. I have a few Mac items and have had lots of Benefit freebies over the years (thanks Glamour!) but haven't been impressed.0 -
I'm a mixed bag girl too.
Only use Garnier deep pore unclogging wash - it's the only thing that keeps my adult spots at bay.
Garnier BB cream is the best I have EVER used - I buy the tester sachets off ebay as it works out cheaper.
Loads of expensive and cheap as chips eyeshadows.
My black mascara is Max Factor, brown is Barbara Daly from Mr T.
My serum, eye cream and moisturiser are Aldi's own, and I use Garnier's eye roller.
Nail polishes range from Poundland to Nails Inc - I change my colour every day so I buy lots of colours to keep from being bored. :T
I only have 2 lipsticks and both are Max Factor.Stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage.0 -
I do use mostly premium stuff, most of my makeup is mac/nars/benefit and skincare is Liz Earle, Guerlain, Kiehls and Clinique, but am always on the lookout for dupes/bargains..
At the moment Im slowly phasing out Liz Earle to Aldi Q10 creams and serums which are absolutely amazing on my skin, and to oil cleansing, and my fave highlighter is ELF gotta glow (dupe of nars albatross).
I do prefer the staying power and quality of more expensive makeup but if I find a cheaper version Ill happily swap..We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.

I get expensive skin care products for birthdays and Christmas- I use Estee Lauder make-up remover and moisturiser.
I always buy decent foundation as well- MaxFactor, about £11, because I have a very uneven and pale skin tone. And the same goes for blusher, I like Benefit.
But when it comes to eyeliner, eye shadow and mascara I am a cheap and cheerful girl- Rimmel or 17 all the way!0 -
All depends on my mood, I always use Revlon Colourstay foundation, so thats mid range, I'm using Benefit bronzer and blusher atm so premium, Stila Lip glaze, again premium and Bourjois Mascara, so high street, lash extensions, 20 pairs for £10 online, I feel I should mention the fabulous No 17 range which I dip in and out of when I fancy a change.
Skincare - I have super fussy facial skin but what is working now and has been for ages is Boots essentials cumcumber range, very very cheap and often on 3 for 2 so thats even less than high street;) For my body I use fake tan, I buy a professional spray tan solution and apply with a mitt myself, £25 for about 4 months supply using it twice a week, so premium product but super cheap price tag;) I have to be careful with body moisturiser as most have oil in which strips my tan but I have found Avenoo Oat which doesn't destroy my colour and leaves my skin hydrated and soft, about £7 from Boots etc.
Haircare, premium all the way, I love Redken.Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
I've worked in the industry for years so am lucky and have a bountiful stash of premium products at home that will take me years to get through lol
I would say that some things are definately worth paying more for, and they will probably save you money in the long run too, but others, then cheaper brands are equally effective.
Personally I would always pay premium for serums, moisturisers, eye creams and foundation, but the rest, it really doesnt make a huge difference.
With skincar the most important thing you can do is to make sure you know your skin and are treating it accordingly. Any department store make up consultant will do this free of charge for you and will also give you a number of free sampes to try, the best and most generous one for this is probably Clarins.
But once you know the products you need for your skin type you can then go and shop around.
I personally dont think you can beat Maybelline mascaras and Rimmel nail polishes! But like I said there are other things I wouldnt compromise on

I'm afraid I do. I'm envious of those who don't have to, like my mum!
I have sensitive 'normal' (neither oily nor dry) skin. I've finally struck it lucky with my combination of products. I use Bioderma micellar morningand night, and in the evenings I then also cleanse with Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser and my *gulp* Clarisonic Mia (£120! So not MSE!). Then I moisturise with Bioderma bog basic sensitive cream. The Bioderma stuff wouldn't be expensive if it didn't have to be imported from France! I recently got a hankering for eye cream (I'm 23 but I'd like to prevent wrinkles) so I got some Garnier roll on stuff, but not sure it does anything. I was being cheap (it was half price). I use Bioderma scrub too. I've tried all the usual things in boots and nothing has given me results like Avene and Bioderma. That's why I spend money on them.
My mum uses E45, Vaseline & St Ives scrub, happily. She has lovely skin but different from mine. Mine is very fair and can get dry, her's is tan and oily.
Make up wise I'm also quite spoilt, I like NARS and MAC, but I also realy like Bourjois, Rimmel, Collection 2000, Barry M and Maybelline.
Some things it makes a difference, others not so much. I wouldn't be gutted if I switched to all low end stuff for makeup, as it doesn't bother me like skincare, but I have loads so it'll be a long time before I use up the expensive stuff! My favourite bits were great value theatrical make up from Ben Nye, I use their concealers and rouges every day.
I don't believe that you get what you pay for, as Collection 2000 eyebrow pencil is one of the best I've found! It really is what works best for the individual. No buying toiletries in November: Unnecessary money spent £0.00/ UUs 9/INs 0
