im lucky my skin is not too bad at my age 48 ouch but have looked after it taking off makeup religously every night such a bore i know but it is worth it but do get a lot of comments about my age so cant be doing too bad but do think serum is great. Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)0

Hi, thank you for your replies. It makes me think sometimes that cheaper things are just as good as premium. I am a lover of wipes (either Simple or No7) at night, love the idea of the cleanse and polish but then wonder if I would keep up the regime every night once the novelty has wore off. I do like the Liz Earle moisturiser but having said that I like the Boots No7 basic one at £9.00 a pot. I know its generally said wipes aren't good to use all the time but I just use them at night and then use a wash off cleanser in the mornings so my skin gets a good cleanse then. After all, if wipes were that bad, then no one would buy them and they would go off sale as there wouldn't be a market for them.
I like the Clinique tinted moisturiser, eyeliner and lipstick but the lipstick doesn't last very long and recently I got some No7 tinted moisturiser and got compliments on my skin with that whereas I haven't had any with the Clinque tinted moisturiser so sometimes premium isn't always the best. I tend to think about things now before I spend my money

Oh I have a Simple moisturiser I am using at the moment which I got for Xmas but its a bit too light for my dry skin, do they do any richer ones in the Simple range that are OK?0

I love Liz Earle's range and have quite a supply from Christmas but will also use Aldi's moisturisers and serum if I run out of Liz Earle. Make-up varies as to who has the best offers on
although I do love Mac lipsticks and powder. “I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

Liz Earle is quite reasonable for what it is. I'd never use La Praire, Prevage etc the money is just too much, I could get professional medical treatments for those prices!
I don't use many premium brands for make up tbh, Stila and Nars? that's it I think, I've tried others but often they're not that much better than high street to warrant the price difference.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
I think as one gets older, you do notice the difference in theses type of products. I try to buy the premium stuff when they are on offer though, or with boots points. And I am always happy if I discover a cheaper alternative; my favourite at the moment is Maybelline smoother - a primer that does make your skin smooth & lovely feeling. And although I like clinique make up, I have used an Avon blusher for a few years now that I wouldn't change.0

I use hot cloth cleansers day & night & have done for a few years.
As for make up, I'm mid range & fairy high end.
No7 intelligent colour foundation
No7 loose powder
Body Shop bronzer (also love Laura Mercier Baked).
Eyeshadows Body Shop
Mascara - Borjoise Clubbing Waterproof the ONLY one that stays on
Eye Liner Borjoise Clubbing
Eyebrow makeup - No7 pencil & Benefit or Smashbox eye powders
Lip liner any of the new lip ink pens
Lipstick Soap & Glory Sexy Motherpucker or Borjoise 3D lip gloss.
But I have LOADS of make up & loads of other makes & bits & bons, thats my daily face:o0 -
I always use nivea moisturiser, as i dont react with it but having tried lots of cheap and dear foundations over the years and with having teenage spotty skin at 33, i have found that i can cut back on bronzer and blusher, often pick up stuff in the poundshop. But it i want my blemishes covered i need to go Max Factor or Loreal for my foundation. I love Avene soap free cleanser, and use it every day, seems to help my spots. Its £8 a bottle but it lasts between 2 to 3 months.0

clinique is the only face care system that ive not had an allergic reaction too. part of the reason i ended up being a consultant for them actually!
i have tried cheaper ones and other premium brands and i just react and my face looks like its been burnt. its so sore and hot and cracked and peeling and very painful.
when it comes to skin care i think that paying a bit more for a good product is a good idea IMO. cheaper stuff doesnt do as good a job IME and you can then buy the cheaper make up as if your base isnt good then your make up wont stay on.0 -
I had a clinique consultation and bought the travel size pack as a means of sampling the products over prolonged period of time (stingy SA was determined she wasn't giving away any samples ). I have to say, it did make a big difference for my skin, especially the moisturiser which was much, much lighter than anything else i had previously used.
I've since stopped using clinique and am back to trying to use up the various brands of stuff in my vast collection. What I've learnt since is that actually, most of the difference in my skin was down to the fact that I was cleansing, toning and moisturising with far greater regularity and discipline than I ever had done before.
would I go back to clinique once I've used up everything else? Probably not for a cleanser, as I've found at least one significantly cheaper product which seems to work just as well. Possibly for the toner, as I like the fact you can actually feel it working (I'm yet to experience that with any other toner i've used). If anything, I'm most likely to buy the moisturiser as that's the one product where I'm yet to find anything cheaper that gives as good a result. I will however, make a real dent in my stash before I entertain a purchase. No7 (bought cheaply with the £5 off vouchers) is doing an adequate job in the meantime (and boy do I have a stash to use up)!know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0
