I really wanted to see if anyone else had suffered like a fool like I did this Christmas. I purchased a set of Purple GHDs from an "apparent" official GHD stockist. I purchased online on 28th December, was tracking my parcel from China using EMS.com and have been told today that the parcel has been ceased and destroyed at customs because the item was not up to UK standards. So i paid £67.67 to a website who said they were official, however it seems like they arent.
Have now had to email them, before I go back to my bank Halifax who then will put a dispute in. Has anyone had this happen? Am i going to get my money back? Am really disappointed as this was a present I bought myself out of my Christmas money

Hopefully Halifax will be able to do a chargeback and that will be the end of it. But... I've just checked out that site and it screams scam or at the very least dodgy. Don't be fooled by the ghd the official retailer banner (any fool can add that) but do take note of the text on the home page "Ghd Hair Straighteners came in excellent condition and in a timely fashion. These Ghd Hair Straighteners for a great price. Buy Cheap GHD Straighteners UK from our ghd stores. 2012 cheap ghd straighteners Arrived!"

Honestly! You don't need to dig around the site to realise how suspect it is. Buyer beware"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
I suspect there are very few genuine websites offering deals on GHD products. The old adage of "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is" holds firm.
£67.67 for genuine GHD products is a scam. Simple as. You're unlikely to get genuine GHDs for less than about £95.0 -

I'd probably think this but not say had the OP not used the term about themself:

thank you, i have been really stupid, i had a look over the website but obviously was very nieve.
Will make sure i check more into it in future!0 -
Its a shame they were destroyed actually, I believe fake GHD's come out of the 'side door' of the factory so to speak. I bought 2 of the GHD and Hair dryer sets in Egypt last year for a tenner a set and aside from having identical serial numbers there is no difference at all between those and a genuine pair.
Call your bank OP, see if they will instigate a chargeback for you.0 -

Look past the design and check out the spelling and grammar. Check out the Condition of Use page and the Contact Us page. If the former is badly worded and the latter only has a Chinese address, run a mile!
Also, the biggest indicator is price, price, price. No official site (for anything) sells things that cheaply"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
You might want to report them. You'll find plenty of links where the Chinese authorities talk tough on these issues. From our ReadMe sticky here's a start...
There are lots of pages on Consumer Rights and protection. An over view can be found here:

I think you'll find that they come from some dodgy back street electronics factory and have never seen the inside of any factory with links to GHD !
If i were you i would never leave your straighteners unattended when they're switched on, they may look like GHD's but won't have passed any safety tests. I know someone who bought fake ones (unknowingly, but because they were cheap) and they caught fire.0 -

Good practice to never leave anything electrical unattended, least of all straighteners
A good majority of fakes do come out of the side doors of factories, whether these did or not they are identical in every way to the genuine pair and perform to exactly the same standards.0
