Good practice to never leave anything electrical unattended, least of all straighteners :D

A good majority of fakes do come out of the side doors of factories, whether these did or not they are identical in every way to the genuine pair and perform to exactly the same standards.

But they don't meet minimum electrical saftey standards. Why would you knowingly buy fake ones ? Apart from the safety risks, there's the issue of contributing to unscrupulous and dangerous people by buying them.

Why? Because at a tenner a pair they were worth the risk. The house is wired to a circuit breaker so there is zero chance of being electrocuted and they are never left unattended.

As it turns out, they have outlasted any of my previous sets of expensive ones so I'm happy for an outlay of £10 and if they die tomorrow they have served me well.

You ignored my comment about where the money for counterfeit goods goes, does it not bother you ?

Nope. The money went to the nice man in the Pharmacy in Egypt. Presumably he already paid the big bad counterfeit man for them.

I bought them eyes wide open knowing they were fake. I don't have a problem with this. Some people will, some people wont.

Yep, seen it before. As I said I bought them knowing full well what I was buying.
A recent You Gov survey found that 24 per cent of adults have knowingly bought a fake DVD, yet 56 per cent said they would not buy a product they knew was fake and could fund crimes such as human trafficking.

    I'm in the 44% then.

I was on holiday, my straighteners had packed in and there was a set of GHD's for a tenner (albeit fake). Very few would be principled enough not to buy in those circumstances I feel.

    I'm in the 56% ! I wouldn't have bought them.

BUT, if my GHD's pack up i will be distraught. I would do without wine and chocolate for a month to replace them !

Have to say when these do give up the ghost I shall replace them with the genuine ones, if anything the fakes have sold them to me, they are miles better than my babyliss ones.
I was a bit wary of spending £100+ on the real thing but now I know how good they are I would buy genuine.
Obviously not everyone would agree with that sentiment though :D

I got my last ones online but from a genuine seller, i checked on the GHD website before ordering but i have bought them through my hairdresser before. I've only ever bought 2 pairs, one for me and one for my sons GF. No others compare to GHD's don't know why :)
