Never really understood the idea that fake DVD's etc funded drugs or human trafficking, those seem to be lucrative enough sectors in their own rights, seems odd that they need hooky hair straighteners to subsidise them! But I think it's a semantics thing referring to similar groups of dishonest people having diverse interests.

Hooky electricals - genuinely dangerous, do not rely on your home RCD to stop them setting light to your home or giving you a nasty belt - especially if you also bought hooky RCD's! Yep, seen fake RCS's from China, all the usual stamps outside, thick direct cable inside. More likely to set your fuseboard on fire than save your life.

But then GHD's are staggeringly overpriced - no reason why straighteners should cost nearly a ton - heating element and ceramic plate, bit of plastic, should cost about the same as a travel iron really, but well done to them for making them the must-have straighteners at best part of a ton. Well marketed indeed!!

I'm ok paddy, our house was rewired with something that trips the electric, often for something as simple as a bulb blowing in a ligt fitting so I don't worry so much (it needed doing with the amount of crap the kids have plugged in!!)

Have to say the ghd's are the only fake thing I own. They served a purpose at the time really. They are damned expensive though but for some reason other brands just don't seem as good (believe me I've tried them).

Never really bought into the fakes funds organised crime stuff either I have to say. I imagine it more as a bloke in china thinking "how can I make a few yen". Perhaps one day manufacturers will realise that if thy price their goods realistically there would be no need for knock offs.

If you do get your money back OP, I ordered a pair of GHD's from the official GHD website today for £79 including next day delivery, it is the IV Styler :)

Has anyone had this happen? Am i going to get my money back?

Yes, it happened to me a few months back. Very annoyed with myself as there is so much news about these fake websites. I've had to put this one down to experience!

£67.67 for genuine GHD products is a scam. Simple as. You're unlikely to get genuine GHDs for less than about £95.

Wrong. Amazon recently went as low as £74 so these low prices can be confusing.

The official GHD website is selling them for £79 at the moment, so I'd assume the type Amazon are selling would be genuine, as they are an official GHD stockist, as long as they are purchased from Amazon themselves and not a seller.
