  • Having now got the match money from Lloydstb, can I withdraw all the amount or do I have to leave an amount in there still (£1)?

Now you have the money, you can close the savings account and get interest to date. I think you'll need to phone them to do this, ie I think you can't do it online.

I've already done this. You need to

    1) Ring up to cancel the STC. LTSB indicate 0845 3 000 000[1] , saynoto0870 suggests 0207 7857654[2].
    2) (Optional - depending on when you want the money, and how soon you can do step 3 - this is what I did) Move all the money out of the savings account into your current account (and elsewhere if necessary.) If you have online access, do it from there.
    3) When convenient, go into a branch (it cannot be done any other way, despite their website giving an 0800 number to do so - they told me the website was wrong,) to close the savings account, and get your money (if you didn't do step 2, and) any further accumulated interest credited to your current account.

Like a lot of people here, I eagerly participated in the STC escapade and between my husband and myself we managed the full amount each. However, I am a non-tax payer and had duly filled in the R85 form as instructed and taken it into the bank.

I was mystified when I received their matching sum of only £40 instead of the £50 I was due. I've been all around the LTSB world but eventually discovered that my branch had no knowledge of my completed form and that I would have to contact the tax office to claim my money back!

As I have had no dealings with a tax office for donkey's years, being a stay-at-home mum (and now grandma!), I don't really want to start now. Are Lloyds TSB at fault here and any suggestions how I can twist their arm to restore my £10 - and obviously to make sure I don't pay tax on the interest either!

Thanks for all the help I've received on the forum - it's been invaluable and fun!

I think your gonna have to reclaim the tax from the inland revenue. You can download the form from their website.

Thanks kingmonkey - I suppose I'll just have to, although it really bugs me that LTSB didn't do their job properly!
  • Hi

I hope I'm putting this in the right place, I've only used the forum once before.

But I didn't know whether people knew that Lloyds Tsb are still running their 'save the change'.

I switched to Halifax in the summer, but kept my Llloyds account open and I notice that they are still paying a matched amount into my Lloyds savings account, when I use my debit card.

    It's a bit of extra cash...........:j
