df my date keeps moving but i think as long as there is a plan in place and u get in the habit of sticking to it then ,as u go along u can bring the end date nearer .i am determined to use my one day extra pay a week as of april for debt clearance only . i think that is the way ahead however my car will be due tax and mot .the joys .chin up head down we can do this .
So finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x
  • I know, you're right - it's frustrating though isn't it. Although I'll make sure we have a happy life doing it. I'm not throwing everything down the pan to focus solely on debt cos who knows what's round the corner, we need to enjoy every day even if it's whilst paying all our spare cash to the debt collector.

After all, it wasn't mine to spend in the first place! :)

I am in the mood to Spring Clean today after work. I am feeling the need to get things sparkling. I may change my mind when I start!

  • Well I called re the credit card app today but it's not been processed either way yet - I will be very surprised if I get it and it will help keep interest at 0 but otherwise it's going up to £40 a month extra ish.

Anyway - I'll plod on, pay day feels miles away and I have no money left :(

I'm off next week too for a couple of days so it will be interesting trying not to spend then, well not spending - there's no option!

  • I have called them again today and they said it's with the admin team. Lady sounded positive that the card would be issued soon but when I asked if it had been approved she said she didn't know. So I think she was just trying to sound nice lol.

Anyway - I've managed to hold off with a payment until Saturday, which I make by cheque an they don't get banked until Monday which is payday. That gives me £50 lee way and I've also cancelled something this week which would have cost me £20 plus didn't do my class last night which was £15. This isn't spare, it's that I didn't have it to spend this month.

I've set up some savings from this pay day onwards so I should have £100 away a month which makes me feel so much better as I've got back into having nothing again when I was doing so well last year.

Bring it on, I will get back to where I was. Off to figure out how!

  • Right I have checked my report and Tesco have done their checks, who knows what will happen. I am using 88% of available credit so that isn't good however it's a BT card i've requested so point is I am not trying to spend!

I've done my spreadsheet for the next couple of months and I can book our little holiday where I can take the kids away in June so that is something to look forward to. I may even clean my car for the road trip - must be special!! LOL. I am pleased I can do that and I will did out their summer clothes from last year so I hope they will only need shoes and a fre cheapy tshirts.

Getting money from OH to DD's school items as I always pay. She needs shoes but I will hold off with the tops as they will be in summer uniform in no time and I am not making that mistake again.

So I am feeling positive that I have a plan and know where I am splodging and that by June at the latest I will be making a dent in the debt again but importantly I will also have a small amount of saving again. I don't really have anything worth selling at the moment so not going down that route, plus I don't think I could find the time.

The house needs a good re-org too, but seen as it's all hidden behind cupboards in the loft i think I will wait until we move (we may never move!) to do that LOL. I'm making sure I don't expect too much of myself as I have done before.

    That's great news DF! :T
Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j
  • Thanks becs.
Well even though the cards not come through the balance transfer has been done so when I logged on this morning it was nice to see only £90 or so on the balance which I will pay off once the issue a true balance next month as I don't want to over or under pay as I've been bitten by that before. I may pay £50 off to get the interest down though as it is being applied now the 0% had ran out. I am so pleased that the new one is 22 months at 0% (well that's what I signed up for, haven't seen the paperwork yet! - presume it'll come today).
I also applied for a consolidation loan which will give me enough to buy a new car (more debt I know, controlled debt though) as my car is very poorly and I can't be without one. It's been fixed and fixed that the next time it may not be fixable. Only so many times a plaster will do and replacement parts are more than the cars worth.

Anyway long and short of it is that more of my debt will be at 0% and the new one will be at 8.4% if I am accepted. I've called them to ask if I was accepted and she said I am in principle so now I need to see if the underwriters ask for more details which they may well do and could still fail the application. I should know by tuesday what's happened.

Right, it was pay day yesterday and I've taken out some cash I need to start the month off. It worked that way last month and it seemed to last a while in my purse. Groceries and petrol are paid for by card so I can keep tabs on it with my bank, the cash is for other things I pay for which can't be paid for by card.
Groceries are £40 a week which will be hard but doable, it's to include nappies too but he's not going through loads now he's almost potty trained.
I have the SC on today with things from pantry so I am pleased about that as won't need to cook when I get in. I love feeling organised - makes everything seem so much better.
