Welcome CountingPennies, it is fab that you are joining us :j

And thank you FC for bringing her over here :T

This is an incredibly supportive thread - we are all here for each other. I can't tell you how much this thread means to me and how much I have got out of it.

Remember no positive step is a rubbish step. If you think about it putting a £1 into my party tin is not rocket science but when I turn 50 next August I will have over £400 - now that really is positive

Don't worry about crying, it is your way of expressing your feelings, far better than bottling it all up. Most of us have been there, done that and have the T shirt or in my case I'm still doing it. I just don't know when I will burst into tears but a wise colleague told me - those who mind, don't matter and those who matter, don't mind

    Have a fab day
"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."

    Morning All!

Feeling a bit swamped and overwhelmed with stuff so spent first 5 minutes at work writing my 10 positive steps! It's like a mini meditation to start the day!

    My 10 today are:

    1. Put a bit of makeup on - I look shocking and I'll feel better! Done :D Look and feel 200% better and a squirt of perfume too!
    2. Check bank & sweep the pennies Done :D
    3. Polls, surveys & cashback site Done :D
    4. Type up minutes - meeting tonight so has to be done! Done :D
    5. Try restaurant booking again  Not answering phone!
    6. One off "dreaded" work list - it's growing too long! Done :D
    7. Finish off medical expenses :(
    8. Take out money to pay the garage - it's a big bill! :(
    9. Put on a load of washing :(
    10. School Parents Council meeting - will take up most of evening! :D

And for all those who are old enough to remember Hill Street Blues - "Let's be careful out there"!!!

    Welcome Counting Pennies!

We all cry - it's just we don't admit it to people! My favourite spot is in the car driving to or from work! I once got pulled in by a lovely policeman who spotted me and he wanted to check I was ok! Made me cry more!!

Did you ever read The Four Ageements?? Google it. Four little ways to live your life and I have them printed out and pinned up by my desk and I contemplate them for a minute when it's all feeling a bit much. They help me. This is No 4:

    Always do your best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment. It will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstances, simply do your best and you will avoid self judgement, self-abuse and regret.

I read that as I can't be brilliant every day and some days I'll be better than others but if I'm doing the best I can on a bad day then that's all I can do!!

Right... off to do some ebaying! Don't think i'm gonna have time to get the cupboard under the stairs done or the studying but will try my best.

Ohh... and someone asked what i was studying? I'm just doing an open degree. So far i have done K101, DSE141, and currently doing Y178 and Y176 to kill some time before moving onto level 2 in September. Haven't decided what i'm doing yet though.

I've almost finished my degree so not sure about the changes coming in September, but make sure you link them all to a degree path so you don't have to pay more for your courses... I think they have sent emails about it? :) I've done DSE141 too but mostly I've done social science type courses, although my degree is just an open one.
