I was telling my son about a book which was published a few years ago and cause a stir in the press. It was by an American woman, and was all about how the key to a happy marriage was to be subservient to you husband and be the perfect wife. Can anyone remember what the book was called or who it was by?

Sounds like a variation on the Stepford Wives. Books like that need to be kept away from impressionable young minds. Unless the heroine in the book emasculates all the bad men and rules the world in the end.0

That's the one! thx0

No. The heroine in the book just does everything her husband tells her to. She has no say in anything whatsoever. (It's a fairly entertaining read.)
It definitely wouldn't work in this house ...0 -
I remember the surrendered wife episode of wifeswap. when hubby cam home from work wife would help him "relax" for an hour while the kid watched tv. Hubby first, kid second, house third, wife fourth. She even put his slippers on for him, Surrendered looked more like women of Gor to me! the swap bloke she ended up looking after was horrified!Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -

She claims that she only means don't try to control the husband.
How in heck 'don't bother trying to change him, it'll only pee him off' got turned into a multimillion pound business, I have no idea. I suppose anything that can have a tenuous connection to wives submitting to their husbands as they are the head of the family as Christ is the head of the Church, a la the Bible, and promises happy ever after, well, it's going to have an awful lot of people interested.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
LOL, husband probably told her to! There's a lot of money in it. They were doing the rounds of Daytime TV a few years ago, they appeared as a couple.0
