  • Dusty,
Read your post regarding your boiler. I'm a Plumber/Heating engineer and always tell my customers to stick to a few golden rules.
Ask any engineer who comes to give you an estimate for a detailed breakdown of everything he's going to do and get it in writing.
Ask him to supply a few references, not just one!
If he/she says they can carry out the work at the drop of a hat, beware! He may be dodgy, good plumbers/heating engineers are generally busy!
Do your homework regarding the specified boiler, dont buy cheap no matter how tempted you are, you get what you pay for!
Ask friends and family about their boilers and about anyone who has carried out work in their house.
NEVER hand over cash until the boiler has been fitted and always ask for evidence the boiler has been correctly notified to the local authority.
Always use a Gas Safe Registered engineer and check him out with Gas Safe by looking at his picture on the Gas Safe web site.
Sorry to be so anal with the advice but I've been reading some of the posts on here regarding fixing/fitting boilers and they are ridiculous.
Last but not least, if you're on a budget a Potterton Gold is a good boiler at a reasonable price, if you're not on a budget Worcester are doing a deal at the moment where if the boiler is registered with them within a week of purchase you get 5 years warranty! Trust me, Worcester dont give much a way!

    Evening all

I had a massive headache last night, despite taking tablets, and still felt very rough this morning - hence a day at home.

I slept until lunch time and pottered a bit this afternoon. Tea was a combination of take away and home made. I've caught up with online stuff, done some research on travel insurance and played with DS2.

Travel insurance is a nightmare. DS1 is flying to New York soon, but not many companies insure minors traveling alone (he's going with two staff from college). We need a family policy (but Europe only) and DH has a couple of health issues. Looks like we'll end up with 3 separate policies.

OK, time to face the facts and update the list.

    Thanks, ladies!

Both DDs arrived here at 4pm, with presents  and general niceness. I got a DVD from Minion and a red chinese dragon statue from DD1. I then watched them on Lets Dance 3 (and did the singing for the oldies - well, the drinks selection was quite good) and we went off to the Japanese restaurant where I spent quite a bit but we were stuffed :).

Then back for TV cop shows, lots more of the home bar (the kitchen worktop) and both DDs are snoring on the futon downstairs, DD1 because at 19, she has only ever drunk Bacardi before and I [strike]have[/strike] had some overproof from the NN when she came back from visiting family in Jamaica. I only gave her half measures as well. She did look rather happy just before she snuggled up to the cat :)

Oh, and I got an email and I've been confirmed for my next gig at the end of the month :j: Just have to learn the playlist by this Sunday afternoon for rehearsal!!!!!!

ETA: There's one train an hour direct from East Croydon to Concrete Cow Central, LW - don't think I won't get on that train if you keep misbehaving!
I shall be skint for a while yet, thanks to tonight, but it was worth it :)
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Have flew really well these last 2 weeks and have got my house to the point where I don't panic if friends call unexpectedly. However - I did nothing yesterday - didn't even SS the kitchen and bathroom. Coming down to kitchen this morning I can see that I'm starting to slip - I have a tendency to think - well that's the house tidied, as if it's a one off thing instead of a continuous process. If I had just tidied away a few things from the kitchen before going to bed it would be better - as they have a tendency to sit there all day - I stop seeing things which could be done so easily and make a big difference. This is why I really need this thread - doesn't matter what level I do. When things get on top of me I can't decide where to start and it all seems too much but I can cope with flying and fluttering - I don't even have to make any decisions about where to start and what to do - just follow as much of the list as I can. Off to tidy kitchen and start the day again!!! Happy flying:)

    HI all

We i am have been in this week but not posted much. I am just going to post the week's list so i can see what i can cross off and see how i did to motive me. It was DH's birthday on Thursday and he picked up the kids at 3.30 and came home with our 2 plus 4 extra kids and their parent who had been at the school gate for a impromptu party:eek: and the OH's turned up after they finished work .. i had not idea about it until they arrived at 3.45:eek:

BUT the downstairs and bathroom were clean and tidy, i had menu planned a meal so just got extra's out of the freezer to pad it out..

and closed the bedroom doors as they are rooms of doom still:o

but we survived and one of the mum's commented at how nice and homely our house was and how i always had something cooking in the aga.:D

so if i had been flying the story would have been very different..

but next week i need to focus on the bedroom as Friday this week i had to tidy up after having 6 kids destroy the house on the Thursday night.

    Morning all :)

Happy Birthday kazwookie and MissA, Belated birthday wishes to you Jo :D

Well I have been more than useless - a whole week went by and I didn't get on here once! I haven't stopped all week but have been busy in job and business - my house needs a massive overhaul!! I have catalogues and orders to get out today but I really need to knuckle down and do whatever FLYing I can over the weekend. From Monday I really must try to work on my lists every day - I feel like I'm really failing with it at the moment :(

I'm going to get business stuff sorted now so that I can get back and get some FLYing done :)

    Catch you all later :)
