This from the person who stated that you could not get any more low brow than Keeping Up Appearances and The Simpsons.

Goater, you really are a hoot!

You may post an awful lot of twaddle but you are superb for entertainment value!

Well they are low brow. I have no problem with people who can't afford the finer things but it costs nothing to watch a better quality tv program. Therefore I do look down on people like you who enjoy watching cartoons and poor quality sitcoms

I've been to such places. They're called restaurants. :D

Nice try at playing the 'snob' card, but it won't wash, I'm afraid. You can have nice cafes and awful restaurants. But most people intuitively know the difference between the two types of venue. The fact that you don't is sad but I wouldn't let it worry you too much. I'm sure people make allowances for your problems with the English language. ;)

Yes I agree with you here. You can have awful restaurants e.g macdonalds. I'm glad to see you're coming round to my way of thinking :-)

Poor old goater. He can't even remember what he wrote from one post to the next. Never mind, old chap. We'll make allowances. :)

You said: "Have you never been to a cafe where they have table cloths, cutlery and waitress service?".

That was what I said was a restaurant. McD's does not qualify. ;)

LOL, and this from someone who told someone else they should be ashamed of being a snob.

    You should listen to yourself.

Sorry for the delay in replying I was just watching a good documentary. There is nothing snobbish about believing people should watch good quality tv program's/films. I watched "bobby Fischer against the world" last night. If you can tear yourself away from the cartoons you should watch it. It's very good.

What is snobbish is looking down on people who due to financial limitations cannot afford to visit a restaurant other than macdonalds.

You are comedy gold, Goater, you really are. :rotfl:

(I'm going to ignore the fact that you seem unable to use capital letters properly. Or spell 'programme'. Or spell 'McDonalds' - despite it being the subject of the thread and clearly visible in the title. Or that you use run on sentences. ;) )

    Who did that?

All anyone ever said was that people who had only ever experienced McDonalds had some excuse for not understanding the difference between a cheap cafe and a restaurant and taking on McDonald's conceit that their cafes were restaurants.

Yeah its an Iphone so its difficult to write coherant sentences as you can only see a bit of what you type. Sadly i mistakenly wrote Mcdonalds once by mistake and it auto corrects back to it when i type the word. I should really delete the entry but as I rarely use the word in text messages I haven't got round to doing it yet.

When I get back home from the theatre I will look at correcting my spelling and punctuation on my previous posts to satisfy your strict standards.

This is hilarious. Name dropping that you are using a iPhone (but, weirdly, one that is incapable of getting its own name right). Then trying to impress us with the fact that you are claiming to be at the theatre. You really are one of a kind!

To me, a restaurant needs to have

    a) cutlery
    b) wine list

    !

So to clarify, there are no restaurants in Iran?

Also, neither of my local Indian restaurants are licensed (neither do they have anything to do with India). They aren't takeaways, they aren't cafes I have always considered them to be restaurants, largely because that is what they are. What would you consider them to be?

    BTW, Goater.
