I am not going to get into the argument regarding HC as Im so afraid I'll say something that will "upset" the MOD's and they'll hold it back even longer..

All I will say, HC needs this thread and this thread needs HC..

Please let him come back :(:(:(:(:(

just watching the news about the 3 babies that have died in the neonatal unit of belfast hospital, so sad

Oh no :( There were 2 yesterday evening when I heard about it and reading the article the 3rd little one died last night.

Makes me so grateful that DS2 came through ok. As he'd been discharged after birth he went back into a normal childrens ward albeit I don't think they'd seen such a small baby for a while (he was only 2 days old) - neo-natal is for babies who have not left the care of the hospital. What I didn't know when he was admitted was that I had a very nasty dose of gastroenteritis which only became apparent when I collapsed on the ward. Only now do I appreciate the need for what to others can be seen as OTT cleanliness. As far as I know I didn't pass anything on but I was barred from seeing my own son for 2 days and after that it was very strict hand washing & sanitising.

It's scary how easily germs can be brought into a hospital, especially those that allow expectant mothers to have a tour of the maternity wing just like the hospital in that article. When I asked for a tour of my hospital I was given a DVD and told the reasons why they don't allow tours. I'm not saying at all that it's linked but the fewer people allowed in maternity & neo-natal units the better.
