    If it should be....
If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
and pain should keep me from my sleep,
then you must do what must be done,
for we know this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand,
but don't let grief then stay your hand,
for this day, more than the rest,
your love and friendship must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years,
what is to come can hold no fears.
Would you want me to suffer? So,
when the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend,
only stay with me until the end,
and hold me firm and speak to me,
until my eyes no longer see.

It is a kindness that you do to me,
although my tail it's last has waved,
from pain and suffering I have been saved.

Do not grieve, it should be you,
who must decide this thing to do.
We've been so close, we two these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

For all of you going through the heart break of losing a beloved pet. xxxx

Pets are strange things - we all love them so much, often more than people.

I know what it's like to lose a loved pet so thinking of you all xxx

What do I do? our dog is old and has been a much loved family pet, but now she has become a total nightmare, she is distroying the house, peeing and pooing everywhere biting at cats, myself and everyone who she goes near, mind you thats only if your trying to take things off her. she has become obssesed with food eating bin bags shopping bags, drags things out your handbag, we are having a living nightmare with her. she has very many medical problems, has survived cancer bowel twists and so on many times. anyway I feel awful but my hubby and i disgussed getting her put down phoned the vet they can do it at 9.30am tomoz problem is we have a 19 year old son and 17 year old daughter who know what she is like but are probably not as bothered because they don't have to clean up after her. she is almost 13 and its a long time for us all, but what do I tell my adult children? Do i tell the truth and tell them whats happening tomoz or do i say she passed away during the night, my friend thinks i should tell them the truth and let them have there last night together. i am only just coping with the idea myself and feel i couldn't cope if the kids got upset too. it has been making my home life miserable and hard work has anyone any suggestions what to say to ds and dd. hubby ids going to take her in morning,
thankyou in advance for any advice. (never posted anything personal on here before)

    For you blondynurse.
    May I Go?

    May I go now?
Do you think the time is right?
May I say goodbye to pain filled days
    and endless lonely nights?

I've lived my life and done my best,
    an example tried to be.
So can I take that step beyond
    and set my spirit free?

I didn't want to go at first,
I fought with all my might.
But something seems to draw me now
to a warm and loving light.

I want to go. I really do
    . It's difficult to stay.
But I will try as best I can
to live just one more day.

To give you time to care for me
and share your love and fears.
I know you're sad and afraid,
    because I see your tears.

I'll not be far, I promise that,
    and hope you'll always know
that my spirit will be close to you
    wherever you may go.

Thank you so for loving me.
You know I love you, too.
That's why it's hard to say goodbye
and end this life with you.

So hold me now just one more time
and let me hear you say,
because you care so much for me,
    you'll let me go today.

Be strong. You are obviously doing the right thing for your beloved dog.

Sorry, had to take a few minutes to compose myself afer my last post. My family rescued the most wonderful loyal pet you could ever wish for. The kind you could turn inside out and they wouldn't complain. He was rescued from Dogs Trust having been abandoned when he was a pup. The rescue centre thought he was blind as the hair had totally matted over one of his eyes. He was painfully thin and his coat was a mess. He even had bald patches on his knees which we attributed to him praying for a kind loving owner. The day we went to Dogs Trust we were on I think our 3rd and final walk around the kennels when all of a sudden we all got splashed. Thinking this was just a coincidence we tried again and walked away and came back and yes, we got splashed again. That was the day Pips chose us. He won best rescue dog just a few months later at the annual kennel show. He really was mans best friend.

A few years later he started going downhill. I got the dreaded phonecall in work one day saying he'd taken a turn and it wasn't looking good. I composed myself as best I could and approached my boss to ask him for the following day off as the outcome was bleak. His reponse ........ "sure just get him put down today and you'll not need the time off". I may have responded out of turn but he backed down and gave me the morning off. Found out later my colleagues had given him a hard time for being a heartless (sorry not allowed to swear).

Pips was taken to the vet the following morning after we'd all had time to spend with him during the night. By some miracle the vet did something and he was given a reprieve. Upon hearing that he was on his way home, I rushed straight off to work, earlier than I needed to because of my boss' attitude. I got another phonecall later that day. He'd taken a bad turn and was rushed to the vet but there was nothing they could do. I'm crying typing this as I missed the last time Pips was able to run let alone walk and all because my boss was being a (not allowed to swear). I set the phone down, walked over to him and said "you'll be pleased to know he's just been put down".

I can't believe that 555 (much prefer 666!) can come on here and make the kind of post they did. There are some nasty trolls on here but that takes the biscuit

Some people are so heartless, (((hugs))) Caz xx
