  • I feel for you 3dogs.
I have taken 2 of my dogs to be put to sleep and its the kindest thing you can do especially staying with them. I did the same with mine. I said familiar words to them to soothe them and asked the vet to give them a kind of valium to ease things but it is so sad too.

She has been your family pet for 13 years, you owe it to her to find out why she is behaving like this, there are all sorts of medical problems that can cause this and more importantly all sorts of treatments you can try. You wouldn't give up on one of your children this easily and dont forget A dog is for LIFE and not until you get fed up of it. I think the most important thing you can do as far as your children are concerned is to show that when you take on the responsibility of a pet it should be for life, especially when your dog needs help. Don't just turn away because there is a problem, find a solution. If PTS is your solution to the problem please do not ever have another pet just to give up when a problem arises. If you have made your mind up to get rid of your dog have you considered trying a rehoming centre. Someone may give her a few more years love and care.

I think your finger slipped and your username should read 666.
    I don't see you fitting in here.....Byeeeee!
my darling little dog has kidney failure heart failure an irregular heart, fluid retention from head to foot, dementia and now behavioural problems. She has had thousands of pound worth of medication and surgery 4 times to save her life. We have been through hell and high water with our wee dog which we have shown love and compassion too over 13 years, our vet has her on medication for her heart kidneys irregular heart beat etc. She also has swollowing difficulties and choking due to the fluid on the back of her throat and lungs. She is biting the other pets biting myself my husband and the children. I believe she is suffering she can't stand being petted because i believe she is in too much discomfort. The has unfortunately thinking constantly and eating everything in sight including things are not for consumption, and this has twice made her suffer a torsion to her stomach. I for one fully understand her medical problems as i have a degree in nursing. My post was for support to deal with these problems and for anyone to advise me how to deal with this for my issues because people who have had to face this before could shed some light or how they have coped with it. We have also 2 cats which my dog is biting at. I have to take responsibility for everyone in our household including our other pets. this is not being discussed for someone like yourself to insult and cause further upset. I am a very caring person who loves animals. I think your reasons for posting this are obviously from some other deep rooted problem and this is maybe something you should have looked into, perhaps anger management. Also i don't think a forum is a place you will "belong" as you very much use an offensive approach.
Regards all the lovely support of messeges on the forum and support from pm's i would like to thank you all very much, for every inch of support and kindness regarding this awful position i have found myself in. The good thing is the above poster is in a minority so i like to believe the majority of people are generally good and have good intentions which helps me sleep at night. Take care you all, tomorrow is going to be a difficult day x

Blondeynurse you don't need to justify yourself to the troll.
Big hugs for tomorrow....i think you're doing the right thing as it sound like the dementia has taken over (We had the same with our dog several years ago) but it's still so hard when you have to say goodbye. Will be thinking of you xx
My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.

    For 3dogs and Blondynurse

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body begins quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
This just gave me shivers, nice ones of course. Thankyou.
    Warmest regards to 3dogs & Blondynurse.:A
  • I left work a couple of hours early yesterday in the hope that there would be some bargains left in Boots. The shelves had almost been stripped bare by the time I arrived at 3pm. I managed to find a few bits and pieces and also got some of the vitamins and shots. The SA scanned my bargains, picked the vitamins out of the bottom of my basket and left all the shots in the basket until last. She then said to me that the shots shouldn't have been on the shelf as they are reducing the cost of other shopping and that she wasn't going to sell them to me. She wouldn't give in, even though I acted all innocent and told her about the sign saying they were free with other vitamin purchases. In the end I asked her to cancel my vitamin transactions but she messed the till up and had to start the whole transaction again. I wasn't too bothered though as I had enough vitamins for the next 18 months.

I had a great bargain though in M&S. There was only a small rail of reduced items in the ladies department and the lady before me had picked up a gorgeous Per Una Speziale jacket. She kept looking at it and holding it against her to see if it would fit and eventually she decided against it so put it back on the rail. I asked her to pass it to me and saw that the original price had been £110 and it was reduced to £39. I took it to the till and asked them to scan it to see if that was the final reduction and amazingly it was only £12 so I obviously bought it. It's not often I get such a good bargain so I was really pleased with myself.

I don't know how to add a previous post but I'm sat here with tears running down my face about Bonnie. I loved the story about her diving off the rock.

I haven't posted on here before, but I know how upsetting it is to lose a family dog. Sending you big hugs 3dogs.

Well, the vet agreed that it was time for us to say goodbye to our little Bonnie, and we stayed with her till the end. She looked so peaceful, just asleep, and relaxed. To have put her through investigations, scans, possibly an operation, meds etc would have been cruel at her age. Still we have so many great memories of her over the 12 years she's been with us. We got her from Wood Green animal shelter on 9th July 2000, when she 'chose us' and they said this was her last chance of a new home as she'd been out twice before, but I can honestly say she is the best dog we have ever had in so many ways

They called her the 'ball dog' at Wood Green as she absolutely loved balls/toys of any kind, but especially football - she could dribble and head the ball with such skill, all the kids were astonished at her. And she loved swimming, even in icey water. When we stayed on the Ring of Kerry about 8 years ago, she had a daily swim in the river at Kenmare, and when we stayed near Tipperary a couple of years, she swam in the river at Cashel, climbing up onto a rock, diving in, swimming round, then out and back onto the rock to dive in again, and again - with a big smile on her face :D Such happy memories and 16 is a good old age

This pic is of her when she was at her healthiest, top weight of 7.5 Kgs. She was underweight at about 6.5 Kgs when we got her, and 6.6 last week

Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
    Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.

Popped into boots today and there was NOTHING left (except for an aisle end with mugs and photo stuff) - just how much DID you guys get yesterday?????!!!!!
Managed to get a pack of the free effervescent tablets with a pack of cheap multivits - good job they were out of the shots or I'd have embarrassed myself.... SA had trouble scanning the tablets and another SA said she thought it was from an earlier offer, but there were 3 boxes on the pharmacy counter - box clearly said 1 free with vitamins - 1 per transaction, but I fancied trying them and they got it to go through eventually - need something to keep me awake - I've got an essay deadline for tomorrow and I've already had an extension, so it looks like a late night for me :o

All mine fitted into one basket but I did have to help someone (no names) to ferry all thier baskets to the till and I did feel like a pack horse by the time all the transactions were finished. Transactions are plural because there were lots of extra points tokens being used for spending £25 and of course a No 7 voucher for each one too

We cleared the shots sorry. Very few downstairs left but some were in the travel sized section upstairs so of course that was maximised as well.:cool:

Will you be caught up by next week? I think Monday or Tuesday seems to be the best choice at the moment to fit in with the workers (kandfsmum) so let me know if either of those days suit you, I think we will need to provide some shoulders for Blodynurse :(
Couldn't think of anything witty to say so just keeping the space until I can :(
