    God’s dog poem
When God had made the Earth
and the sky, the flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals
and all the birds and bees.

And when his work was finished,
not one was quite the same.
He said,’I’ll walk this earth of
mine and give each one a name.’

And so he travelled land and
    sea and everywhere he went,
    One little creature followed him
    Until its strength was spent.

When all was named upon the
earth and in the sky and sea,
    This little creature said,’Dear
Lord, there’s not one left for me.’

    The father smiled and softly
said,’I’ve left you to the end,
I’ve turned my own name back
To front and called you ‘dog’,
    my friend.’

    What a lovely verse :o

Well, the vet agreed that it was time for us to say goodbye to our little Bonnie, and we stayed with her till the end. She looked so peaceful, just asleep, and relaxed. To have put her through investigations, scans, possibly an operation, meds etc would have been cruel at her age. Still we have so many great memories of her over the 12 years she's been with us. We got her from Wood Green animal shelter on 9th July 2000, when she 'chose us' and they said this was her last chance of a new home as she'd been out twice before, but I can honestly say she is the best dog we have ever had in so many ways

They called her the 'ball dog' at Wood Green as she absolutely loved balls/toys of any kind, but especially football - she could dribble and head the ball with such skill, all the kids were astonished at her. And she loved swimming, even in icey water. When we stayed on the Ring of Kerry about 8 years ago, she had a daily swim in the river at Kenmare, and when we stayed near Tipperary a couple of years, she swam in the river at Cashel, climbing up onto a rock, diving in, swimming round, then out and back onto the rock to dive in again, and again - with a big smile on her face :D Such happy memories and 16 is a good old age

This pic is of her when she was at her healthiest, top weight of 7.5 Kgs. She was underweight at about 6.5 Kgs when we got her, and 6.6 last week

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss Mr and Mrs 3Dogs - a lot of us on here know what you're going through and how heartbreaking it is. You gave Bonnie a fantastic life for the past 12 years and she was truly loved. R.I.P Bonnie xxxx.

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow Blondynurse - it's a difficult decision to make but I'm sure you'll make the right choice and your decision hasn't been made lightly in view of the many other health problems.

It's such a sad night on here this evening. It's the first opportunity I've had to catch up all week and I've done nothing but cry at the beautiful poems and some sad posts.

Hopefully, we'll have a huge glitch soon and all be laughing again. The return of HC would also lift our spirits.

Just wanted to say thinking of you to 3dogs and Blondynurse. It sounds like you have both given your dogs wonderful homes for many years filled with lovely memories. Sometimes although more investigation could be done with more possible treatment it reaches a point where as an owner it is your responsibility to decide that it is not in your pets best interest to put them through any more and is kinder to let them go - much as we do not mind cleaning up after them incontinence cannot be nice for any animal and although treatments can help, they can't always reverse an illness or restore a life to normal or even a bearable existence. Vets can advise to the best of their ability but as an owner you know your animal best. Working in a vets I know there are thankfully very few times when you feel pts is taken lightly by an owner. Putting pet to sleep is tremendously sad but everyone has some great memories and knows they have made the decision out of kindness.

You did the right thing blondynurse telling your kids. My cat went downhill fairly quickly when I was abroad but I was so glad I knew when my Mum took him on his final trip to the vets even though I couldn't get home, I would have been absolutely traumatised had I not known till after.

To all the much loved and never forgotten pets.

Hope hes better than my O/H or in 2 hrs you you have a sweaty sweary bloke and a piece of slate that resembles a deformed moth, get it shoved at you with a "well you try it", at that point you pop into the garage returning 4 minutes later with a batch of 12 perfectly formed heart shaped tags :D

Big *HUGS* to 3Dogs and blondynurse. I was devestated when we los our Golden Retriever last year, she was my parents dog and I hadn't lived at home for years, but still upsetting, my dad couldn't speak on the phone to tell me, he was devestated :( I was there when we picked her up as a pup. It's still strange when I go home and she's not there, slobbering all over me.

My DD was all tucked up in bed by the time I got in from work, so hoping no more throwing up tonight so I can get some sleep ;)

I seem to have lost my T's mojo at the moment. Hoping to go over the weekend and find something good! Def wanna get back on the whoopsie hunt, Cosmic Dust and French Knickers inspired me last night! :D Plus we've eaten out of the freezer all week so it's begging to be filled up!

Well, nipped into town again today. Almost tried the boots glitch as I found the shots, but had problems finding more than 2 vitamins, glad I didnt if the glitch has been fixed!

Had a look at what was left in the Boots 75% sale, not much really, except loads of black oval pcture frames and Jamies O's home made burger bowls!

I know all you lot rave about the boots sale (and Im sure it was much better yesterday) but do boots ever do further reductions? (Im a real tight !!! aint I!)
Just thinking, if people were going to buy these items they would have by now, and where theres still a large amount of one particular item, would they eventually reduce further?

Got lots of packs of kids 'make your own cards' and 'make your own fairy' for 20p down from £2.99 from Clintons (they are adding new things every day, and reducing all the time!) which will be fantastic for a crafty table at our next Christmas Fair.

Also got several packs of cards (10p a pack) from M&S (Thought they would go rather well with all the 2p asda Christmas stuff, another stall sorted!

Edit, so sorry to hear about Blondy and three dogs, its so sad. I remember when I moved away from home and got my first job after qualifying. Mum called and had to tell me she had to have our cat put down. I had him since I was 13 and loved him so much, he was the 'man of the house' to mum and me. Remember being in tears on the phone in the nurses home even now:o

    For 3dogs and Blondynurse

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body begins quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
