great advice. Well I have bit the bullet and sat the kids down and spoke to them honestly which deffo was the best way to deal with it. They are such good sensible kids, both were upset, but completely understood. After reading your post Fudge Cake I knew I had to tell them, and also the burden of guilt would have drove me to the brink. I wear my heart on my sleeve and find honesty much easier. Also I didn't want to deny kids the right to say goodbye.
This behaviour hasn't been sudden it was been going on for at least 2 years the dog isn't well has heart and kidney failure, and has so much treatment that the isurance had to be canceled because it had went up to £80 a month. Life is weird, take turns roundabouts snakes and ladders but we are such a close family we will support each other. Thanks for reading this, its been a difficult day, i'm certain tommorow will be worse x
I'm glad you found the strength to tell them hon, and I hope you don't mind me asking re the vets, it seems like having her put to sleep is the kindest thing to do, if she's behaving like that she's obviously not a happy dog and if it's not down to the medical problems as I say it may be dementia or possibly after-effects from the treatment.
The vet will be able to tell you more and if he/she agrees with this and you respect their judgement then there probably isn't more to be said.
Either way you may find that worrying about making the right decision/telling the kids is worse than the actual trip to the vets, I found I was far more distressed beforehand than after so (((hugs))) to you and yours xxxNo Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2023

I've just got the Pricecheck back on a wombled receipt and I got £1.25 JTD.
The downside is it was for Dure* ...not looking forward to the SA examining that one!0 -
Received my free royal coin today so many thanks to the OP.
Had a wonderful day scanning everything. Tried loads of old style pantene but still scanning at full price. As i was putting them back where i got them from, there was a new sel for 49p, so kept them. Was either going to get them at agood price or dtd, scanned at 49p through till so still happy.
On a much happier note, i got a dual portable dvd player for 50p:T:T:T:T
One with guy on. Hovered around ss until lady was called to one of the tills for a problem, then scanned quick as and popped pennies in slot.
They are still out there. Sel said £119.Please don't judge me. you couldn't handle half of what I've been through.0 -
Just had to post this so hopefully others can benefit where we have slipped up.
Some of you might have seen yesterday I posted about my parents having jewellery, cash & cards stolen from their hotel room in Tenerife. Apparently it was locked in a case, not a safe due to a £40 charge to use the safe.
Anyway even with the full police report the travel insurance does not cover any cash left in the hotel room, and only £500 of jewellery (not even the value of mums engagement ring)
So as well as the sentimental stuff lost, they are well out of pocket.
I work for an airline, we all travel a lot, and had good travel insurance. But it just shows where there are loop holes.
Hopefully me waffling on, might save someone else having the same problems!
I also found out the opal necklace I got her for Christmas was taken. We saw it whilst on hol last year and didn't get it due to the price, then saw it again this year and I treated her to it. cos I didn't buy it in the UK I can't even get her another one.
Thanks for posting that , I am supposed to be looking into Travel Insurance for mself and DH, this has made me feel that I do need to read all the small print before I buy.
When we did a cruise up the Norweigan coast in 2009, I had some scumbags raid my handbag in the glass lift in Holland as we were going to meet the ship. Sods took both passports, my norweigan currency and my paper driving licence (old style paper one that is)
We did make claim from insurers but didn't recoup all of the costs. We went on to have a fabulous cruise though and the Northern Lights were breath taking. There's no place like home
Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.
Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.0 -
She has been your family pet for 13 years, you owe it to her to find out why she is behaving like this, there are all sorts of medical problems that can cause this and more importantly all sorts of treatments you can try. You wouldn't give up on one of your children this easily and dont forget A dog is for LIFE and not until you get fed up of it. I think the most important thing you can do as far as your children are concerned is to show that when you take on the responsibility of a pet it should be for life, especially when your dog needs help. Don't just turn away because there is a problem, find a solution. If PTS is your solution to the problem please do not ever have another pet just to give up when a problem arises. If you have made your mind up to get rid of your dog have you considered trying a rehoming centre. Someone may give her a few more years love and care.
I think you're being very unfair and should perhaps read ALL blondynurse's posts on this BEFORE making such a cruel judgement, and take into account perhaps that things typed on a forum can seem very black and white (excuse the pun) when they are not in real life.No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2023

Harsh! I'm sure this decision hasn't been taken lightly and I'm a great believer in where there's life there's hope but you are trying to say it's ok to keep a much loved pet alive and in considerable distress you perhaps want to keep your opinions to yourself if you just want to kick someone whilst they're down-go away!We are many we are one xxx
So that every single post that I contribute to this thread is on topic I would just like to say I am an elite 11+ member and I hear the unjust silence of my opinions whilst I am shopping in supermarkets mainly. Just sayin.0
