I'd tell the kids and let them be part of it all. I have a 10year old dog with many health issues (mainly that he's allergic to meat!) and is on constant steroids now. Some days he is very, very grumpy and obviously not feeling well but other days he's not too bad. I know I'll face the same situation some time and I'm dreading it,

If I were in your position I'd tell the teenagers you've discussed it all with the vet and it's the kinder to stop the suffering as it will only get worse. Then you can all spend this last evening spoiling your dog with all sorts of treats, and each say goodbye.

Crikey, I'm about in tears writing this, how must you be feeling! Hugs to you all!!

Just had to post this so hopefully others can benefit where we have slipped up.

Some of you might have seen yesterday I posted about my parents having jewellery, cash & cards stolen from their hotel room in Tenerife. Apparently it was locked in a case, not a safe due to a £40 charge to use the safe.

Anyway even with the full police report the travel insurance does not cover any cash left in the hotel room, and only £500 of jewellery (not even the value of mums engagement ring)
So as well as the sentimental stuff lost, they are well out of pocket.

I work for an airline, we all travel a lot, and had good travel insurance. But it just shows where there are loop holes.
Hopefully me waffling on, might save someone else having the same problems!

I also found out the opal necklace I got her for Christmas was taken. We saw it whilst on hol last year and didn't get it due to the price, then saw it again this year and I treated her to it. cos I didn't buy it in the UK I can't even get her another one.

Check household insurance - often covers cash and items out of home

I think it's 750 posts for your next star:)
We are many we are one xxx

So that every single post that I contribute to this thread is on topic I would just like to say I am an elite 11+ member and I hear the unjust silence of my opinions whilst I am shopping in supermarkets mainly. Just sayin.

Was just going to say the same. In fact, travel insurance companies often tell you to go to home insurance first (as theyd rather someone else paid). Of course you cant claim with both.

For future reference for others who have away from home cover on home insurance, you can often remove that part from travel insurance which reduces the premium

But so sorry to hear of your parents nightmare, really horrible
