Do i tell the truth and tell them whats happening tomoz or do i say she passed away during the night, my friend thinks i should tell them the truth and let them have there last night together. i am only just coping with the idea myself and feel i couldn't cope if the kids got upset too. it has been making my home life miserable and hard work has anyone any suggestions what to say to ds and dd. hubby ids going to take her in morning,
thankyou in advance for any advice. (never posted anything personal on here before)
Hi my dog passed away in september he was just sick the night before and i found him dead in the morning,at the time my daughter had just gone to uni and the same day she called me. She was so happy with freshers week etc and i just couldnt tell her on the phone.so i decided to tell her when she came home from uni, that was a month later.I felt bad leaving it that long but she said it was fine and she understood why i didnt tell her straight away. But what she did say to me when she left to go back to uni that if anything happens to our cat[ he is very old]she wants to know straight away.So what i am trying to say is i think it would be the best thing to tell your children the truth because i think they can deal with things a lot more than we credit them with. And i know we are only trying to protect our children but they do need to know the truth.I am so sorry for you and i do understand it will be a sad time for all off you so sending you hugs.0 -
Blondynurse..I feel for you, I lost my cat 3 years ago, she had been off her food for couple of days then she had a funny turn and we decided to take her to the vets as an emergency but she died in my arms on the way. Still upsetting to think of her even though she lived a good life and was 20 when she went. Only you and your family (along with help/advice from the vet) know what is the best thing to do. Thinking of you at this difficult time.Born to glitch0

She has been your family pet for 13 years, you owe it to her to find out why she is behaving like this, there are all sorts of medical problems that can cause this and more importantly all sorts of treatments you can try. You wouldn't give up on one of your children this easily and dont forget A dog is for LIFE and not until you get fed up of it. I think the most important thing you can do as far as your children are concerned is to show that when you take on the responsibility of a pet it should be for life, especially when your dog needs help. Don't just turn away because there is a problem, find a solution. If PTS is your solution to the problem please do not ever have another pet just to give up when a problem arises. If you have made your mind up to get rid of your dog have you considered trying a rehoming centre. Someone may give her a few more years love and care.
 Don't you think after 13 years of living with their dog that they would know when things are not right? - I knew when my dog wasn't right as we had a very strong bond. It was the hardest & most emotional decision, but I made that decision to stop my dog suffering. If only we could make the same decision for a family memberOur Family Motto ~If all else fails - read the instructions...

Hi Blondie, my situation was a bit different but I had to make the decision with my boy a few years ago and it was very hard.
Of course I cried but knew it was the right thing and please don't take this the wrong way, you will know it was right after the event.
My lovely lab attacked by daughter (an adult) so I had to do it to a healthy dog......I later discovered that the lump he had removed was an aggressive tumour but at the time I didn't think that had anything to do with it.
The vet agreed with me, no question and some time later they explained that some medical conditions affect the brain, in my dogs case the tumour had probably spread there too, in yours perhaps the kidney failure etc caused a small stroke or something.
Thinking of you, keep strong and big hugs. (having a little cry now just because of the memory being jogged).0 -
I might have missed it but.......has there been any news from 3Dogs? She was due to take little Bonnie to the vets today.....:(No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2023
