    Question peeps,

I have become slightly addicted to mr kiplings mince pies so need a substitute.

Is anywhere selling mincemeat ridiculously cheap?

There must be loads out there unsold now it's January.

I want to try that suet pastry idea out but with a mincemeat filling then roll it up n bake. Bet it would by nice with a brandy custard.

JJ shame you're not near me, I would happily donate 1/2 a dozen jars of mincemeat towards your cookin classes & piccies;)
I got loads when it was glitching and was working out at about 50p for 3 jars:T:T:Tand it's dated 2013/4, So if you're West London way in the next 18 months let me know;);):rotfl:
    Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:

    Hehe :D

I have just had a brainwave. I used the lid last night to cover our cheese board (wanted the Brie out early to soften). Just googled cheese base and lid Portmeirion rose and selected images and there it was! Can't find it online anywhere for sale though. Wonder if it's rare....?

All this time I thought it was a cake base n cover!

Yes Fudge_cake, all the various grocery threads are useful. I tend to skim read, and take on board, ideas that I think we would work for me.

It's really all about forward planning. So that you don't have to buy items when they aren't on offer, and to know the prices of what you want.

I've no Aldi/Lidl, A's or S's nearby. But can access a Co-op, Home bargains, B&M. I have a "price limit" for items, such as chocolate bars, crisps, a wash, must be less than 10p, or they're not bought!

eg, Last item I bought from Home Bargains was pack of 12 oxo cubes. Price there, 49p. Price at A's 98p, T's 97p, or if buying 2, works out at 75p.

    Forward planning everyone :)

Been through hundreds of images now and can only find a picture of the base as a replacement. There is NO image on the net of the complete pair.
Is it wrong to be feeling a tingle of excitement?

For anyone who is due to have a baby, the free Huggies starter pack voucher from Asda Baby Club is worth £5 but the packs are £3 at Asda at the moment so it also takes £2 off the rest of your shopping. The outer box contains 3 coupons - £2 off your next Huggies starter pack, £1 off Huggies Pure wet wipes and £3 off Huggies Little Swimmers nappies. Huggies Pure wet wipes are currently on offer at Asda for £1 so they are free with the voucher. The Huggies Little Swimmers nappies are being reduced to £2.95p at Tesco tomorrow so free swimming nappies and 5p off your shop! I wasn't going to bother using the Little Swimmers voucher but now that they are free plus 5p credit, I will "buy" them in Tesco so that my one year old grandaughter can wear them in the paddling pool if we have a summer this year.

I looked underneath. Just says Portmeirion stoke on trent. No numbers or design class to be seen anywhere. Not even in cover. It's immaculate condition but could that mean its a second?

I'm no expert but I think seconds usually have some sort of markon the base to indicate that. May even just be a little squigle. Depends on the pottery I think?

Our 60s/70s black/gold coffee set has an oval gold backstamp with:
    Portmeirion Pottery
    Designed By Susan Williams-Ellis
    Stoke On Trent
    Made In England

 i had a message this morning telling me a post i put on last night about being disapointed that portmerion pottery was made in England could come across as offencive, and anti english so if i offended anyone i am very sorry it was not against english just that you expect somthing to be made where it is named after not hundreds of miles away.
i shall sit on the naughty step ( not to bad am sitting with HC, )
    For goodness sake!
