Blimey. Found another corker (makes mental note to thumb through this tatty book more often...).
    Anyone ever made potato pastry?
Ratio is basically 2 parts flour, 1 part fat, 1 part mashed potato! (add sugar for sweet pastry)

    Hmm. Interesting....

The potato pastry I make I use
    4oz mashed potatoes
    2oz flour
    ½oz fat
pinch salt .....thats the savoury version

The sweet version I do is

    4oz flour
    2oz mash
    1oz fat
    pinch salt
Anyone can cuddle but only the Welsh can cwtch :)

Boots glitches always confuse me a bit. Am I the only one not attempting it?

    :D

Ive not got the hang of tesco glitches yet, let alone try Boots:o. Was wondering if I should, but would not be sure what Im looking for, Im bound to pick up something with the wrong bar code resulting in the glitch not working, then its not as easy to ask for a refund at Boots, as it would be in tesco!

thanks rosie :) we used to do it as well... he was paying me the money for rent&food(well, his smaller share) beforehand but in the last two months I was too good for him and paid it all myself telling him that he should keep it for the bills and council tax we need to pay this month for the last 3 months since we moved in. We got the bill for council tax today and I learned he doesn't have enough money even for that! ehm, what about the other bills?! He always gets cross when we have the money arguments because I earn more(but I also contribute more and I never highlight the fact because of all the man pride b...s...t) but somehow(mr T:p) I also manage to spend less on rubbish I/we don't NEED and my mobile phone bill is 3 times less then his(actually I need to look into that then...)... anyway I don't care, gave him the 150GBP he was short of as I always do because I know he will use his credit card and I HATE debts :o I'm fully aware it's not right to do so too :o

well it got even better as there was part 2 of our argument so I also learned that he HATES living in London(ok, it was my idea but he accepted the reasons and agreed) and wants to go out more(right, why don't YOU plan something Mr?!)

he also has a problem with me spending too much time HERE :o he claims I don't have as much time for him anymore(he might have a point:o) so I decided I will try and improve on that one :(

he also dragged out a few other problems he has which we already argued about but he always does it: waits until everything piles up and goes off big time

Anyway he's 'on call' this week and got a job so he's out now :j
    :rotfl:

but before going he tried to calm it all down like he always does as he can't be angry for long but I told him we'll talk tomorrow

Soo soo sorry for the rant but had to get it off my chest :o:o:o

You're soo right there! The only things I wanted from there are cotton gloves(my hands are really bad because of all the nappy changing and washing up-no dishwashers:() and Vichy normaderm which mr T doesn't sell  all other stuff I can get cheaper/free from mr T or other glitches :T I'm not even tempted by 75% off sale!

    how's diet Nikki?

if you manage to loose weight eating all that^^^^ I'm going to join you&HC!!!:D I badly need a good one to get into shape before spring/summer :o I was thinking SW but I HATE classes and meetings :o I like doing my own thing and was VERY sucessful in the past(I managed to loose almost 40kg a 2 years ago, sadly 10 came back recently and I'm desperate to loose them again...) so I'm giving it a go again

*goes to throw all remaining chocs and sweets in the bin*:eek::eek:

Sending you some hugs Czerchy, and the diet ermmmmmmm........:o

Just catching up, sounds like the bar was rocking & rolling last night. Went to T's this morning and not a glitch or misprice in sight, but didnt pay full price for any of my fruit or veg,it was all whoopsied;)
Did get some illooms which I wanted for a friends party but even those I had to pay 88p for:eek::eek::eek:Mad really though isn't it, they should be £3 something so I got them for about 75% off but still not happy;)Think I've just been too spoilt with all T's glitches lately. Any normal person would love to get 75% off stuff;)
    Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:

That's sounds like pretty good going to me:T:T:TIf I can get away with it I peel the reduced sticker off before I freeze it, think that might make me a "whoopsie snob":eek::e

I also take the stickers off.But i dont have any problem with who sees me buying reduced food and i feel good when i tell people what a bargain i got i just think the stickers look ugly 0r maybe i am a sticker snob also.
i like to leave stickers on as i love showing the rest of the family what a savy shopper i am. 1st thing my wife does when i get her flowers (regular event) is to look for yellow sticker:A

Those ratios are even healthier!! The reduction of fat by 50% appealed to me. Your savoury one nearly eliminates it entirely.
Experimentation is definitely in order here.

    Cheers me dears.

    Morning! :j:j:j

Fudge_Cake, I have a use for those peaches- or for any fruit. It is a lovely fruit tart recipe and the pastry is more crisp, shortcrust, biscuity than flaky. I make millions of these in cupcake tins and freeze them for our lunches:

    275g/9oz/2 1/4c plain flour
    125g/4 oz/ 1/2c sugar
    2 eggs
    few drops of vanilla

mix. roll out the pastry- aim for 1/4 inch/ 1/2 cm at the thickest. Put in a tin (any sort- big or small ones). Put a bit of jam on the bottom- very thinly. Then sprinkle crushed digestive/hovis biscuits on top of the jam (this keeps juicy fruit from soaking into the pastry).

Slice your fruit (PEACHES! ;)) -I usually put an apple and any soft fruit from the garden that I have frozen. The fruit should just be a layer or two, not mounded- Think of an open topped French apple tart with the apples all nicely arranged...

Bake for about 20 mins in a medium hot oven 190-200. and voila!:T

A normal recipe will make two normal sized tarts, or about 24 cupcake sized ones! I don't do anything for a top- but you could make a lattice if you felt creative!

As for Mr. T, no good finds to report. Got the electrical gal to scan a trolley full of party stuff, and she did ... reluctantly... but nothing! Ah well, Sunday is usually a good wobble day! ;)

Brilliant recipe and photo Laura, thank you very much. I will keep the recipe for future ref but unfortunately I can't slice these peaches because there's so much of them I'll need to remove and discard!! And then it won't look as pretty :p

Just printed out 2 coupons as weetabix is one of the few cereals I will eat

    The coupon says for 24 48 72 packs not 36's :(

Oh no, that's my plan gone then! :(

Wow less than £20 a week for 3 I spend more than that on fruit/veg just for me

I'm so proud of my spending on groceries, even if I do say so myself! I began tracking spends on 07/03/11 which was when I first found DTD :D And I did it so I could make sure I was not going over limits/duplicating emails etc etc...but I thought it would also be interesting to have a record of how much I got for so little :D:TI still like to look at it every now and again! :o But the majority of what I use that spreadsheet for is keeping track of my purchases, anything for the household, dogs, (excluding vets and insurance) toiletries and groceries go into the spends. I don't make a lost of what I bought, just add each spend to the weekly totals. Since 07/03/2011 my average weekly spend for 4 adults and 2 dogs is £31.20 :D:D:D:D:j:j:j:j

As you can see from my previous pics, my house has plenty of supplies, overspilling significantly into the garage and my freezer is jampacked! I could actually do with just buying fresh stuff....milk, ham, cheese and fruit/veg for a while and using things up but then I see a yellow whoopsie label and it literally shouts at me!! :rotfl:

All of this would not be possible without you. So thank you, I've got so much out of this site, but this thread in particular. It's given me more confidence and determination in seeking out those bargains and such a rush when I see the fruits of my (and your) labour :D:T

 Cheers Elite, you've become a crucial part in my bargain hunting life!

    Can anyone help?

You know in the Tesco garages you can pick up the Tesco finder map things.
Well there isn't really an online version. I actually want the map with the pin points on.
I know there is a store finder where you enter a location but I like to see how they all relate to each other so I can do a route!! Or at least that's the idea.

My local geography is appalling. I would like to visit a new one once in a while as my locals are inundated with friends of martins and hukd. Not that I mind of course but I am dreaming of untouched stores waiting to be discovered.....

 i had a message this morning telling me a post i put on last night about being disapointed that portmerion pottery was made in England could come across as offencive, and anti english so if i offended anyone i am very sorry it was not against english just that you expect somthing to be made where it is named after not hundreds of miles away.
i shall sit on the naughty step ( not to bad am sitting with HC, )

this is so so sad , I was dissapointed that my Bombay potatoes I had in lovely Indian restaurant were made in the kitchen , not flown in from Bombay ...the worlds gone bonkers .

Huh? I would have thought they were made there too. No offence was taken here at all.
Isn't Portmeirion where prisoner was filmed (is that what it was called? The film with the white blob, I am not a number film?)

It is JumbleJack . It's always been made in England , and I too was dissapointed .
