I managed 3 packs of whoopsied casserole veg (this time with potatoes already in) for 20p a pack. Debating whether to try the slow cooker on Monday to make the casserole or stick to what I know. I have one of the slow cookers from Ts (blue box) that cost around £10 but I've no idea how the capacity of that one compares to a pyrex casserole dish. If they're the same size I could have one batch in the oven and one in the slow cooker and (sorry for the Sainsbob plug) see if I can Taste the Difference. If the slow cooker can hold 2 batches then I might bite the bullet and just use it on its own.

So any chefs out there, could you help me please? Using Google and a measuring jug, I think the Pyrex dish is 2lt and the slow cooker is 3.3lt. How much space do you need to leave in a slow cooker as I fear there's only room for one batch. Unless I can find a Crock Pot glitching soon!
Crock pot is halfprice in Ts but it ends today think i was £17 ish am just trying it for the first time and have filled it to the brim (3.5Ltr) so am crossing the fingers and hope i can turn i back on this afternoon for an hour or 2 to add the cornflour:)

Same here, I only drink on the very rare occasion I feel like doing so, but I've never had the taste for it, I prefer an ice cold Pepsi Max to anything alcoholic!

I was joking with my fella thats the woman in the restaurant fancied him as she gave him a bendy straw but gave me an ordinary one, as I was teasing him he pointed out I had put mine in upside down and I too had a bendy straw :P

    :rotfl:
I had 2 jtd vouchers plus with other coupons my £60 shop cost me £35 which mr meerkat was impressed with.:)
Got scundered at mr a...printed 10 persil/comfort coupons to buy the 21wash comfort pure & 10 wash non bio liquitabs....the sa called till supervisor, which took 10 mins on it's own, and while I'm standing (36wks pregnant with extreme swelling) the sa lays all my coupons out individually, and loudly claims he's never seen so many coupons etc etc....I'm getting redder and redder as I've never actually had an issue with multiple PDF coupons before. He even started saying that there was nothing on the coupons to say they were for persil or comfort (I think what he really meant was there was no picture on them to help him figure out if they are being used against the right product)... Anyway when the supervisor arrived she quickly said I could only use one coupon for each item in one transaction, and no I couldn't put them through in 10 separate transactions. Apparently the manager made this rule up yesterday:mad::mad:
I'm emotionally unstable at this stage, my darling meerkat had been with me, going on, and on, and on, and on about wanting sweet, a ham sandwich....but stop at customer services on the way out as I want the manager to personally answer for my embarrassment...after all there are no signs limiting the number of items each customer can purchase, nor the number of coupons allowed per transaction! It wasn't like I was using the coupons to buy milk & cheese :o:o:o anyway, turns out the lady I had asked to find me more of the persil out the back was the duty manager and she seemed bemused that I'd been refused and told the customer service advisor to put the other 9 through for me (I was in tears at this stage)....she went down to the till I'd been served at & came back with the persil but no comfort, I decided to let the comfort slip as I don't use softener normally and I just needed to get out and have a seat.
And here's the stupid thing...I joined the asda baby club and got the coupon for the free huggies starter kit which I also had in my trolley...the kit is reduced to £3 but the coupon scanned at £5 so they were happy to allow me a free £2 towards other items but were refusing to allow me to use the coupons against the actual items....my money saving escapades are going to send me into early labour at this rate :eek::eek:

Breathe honey, breathe. I'm sorry you've had such a stressful time but remember, SAs being dense/annoying is a science consistent as gravity, in every 8 you visit you will get 1 at least who makes life difficult (1 in 4 on SS tills), just accept that you need these morons to bridge the gap between the groups of good SAs :)

THANK YOU! :D I LOVE baking for others. I had an elderly neighbour who championed my baking and was convinced I should open up my own bakery. He wouldn't let it lie, everytime I saw him (often to drop something baked in for him and his wife and/or glitches/bargains) he would ask if I'd looked into getting a government grant for startng uo my own business yet! He died a few months ago, totally out of the blue and unexpected, it was devastating, he was like a grandad to me. Baking can bring so much happiness, I often think about biting the bullet and just doing it :o

If it's something you want then do it, as long as you learn how to set up/run a business first and do all the research needed there's no reason you couldn't make a real success of it!

But on the other hand don't do it if you don't feel ready, hope I'm making some sort of sense, though I doubt it :rotfl:

QOC it does seem very confuzzling but it's quite easy actually. There are good explanations in the thread but basically for every 6 pots of vitamins and 6 shots you buy, a total discount of £5.97 comes off. You need to take the cost of the 4 most expensive pots of vitamins you buy away from the £5.97 and what you're left with is what will be deducted from your remaining shopping :)

    So if you're lucky enough to find the 79p vitamins and buy 6;

    4x79p =79 x 4 = £3.16

    £5.97 - £3.16 = £2.81 off your shopping :A

    :T:T:T:T:T Fab work, I've got 39 of each :D .... 39 pots of vits and 39 shots....not 39 of each variety of vitamin :p

I wouldn't do this as you may be left with a negative balance if you only just cover the negative cost left after taking away the price of the 4 most expensive vitamins.

The reason I say this is that boots tend to line up their 3 for 2s in order of price and deduct every 3rd price for instance, you buy 4 x 99p vitamins, 2 x 79p, most places will give you the 79p ones free, however boots do this...

    99p, 99p, 99p (Free) 99p, 79p, 79p (Free)

So do make sure you work it out this way to ensure you cover your negative balance sufficiently :)

    (I can confirm this is in place as I bought 3 x 99p and 3 x 79p vitamins yesterday and got a 99p and a 79p free)

My crisp preference is Lays. The salted ones in particular. I just object to paying £3 odd a bag for them on amazon because i cant find them in any shops.I can find the paprika ones but i dont like those :(
QoC I'm sure I've seen them locally but can't think where....will have to think about it....

Got a question...past tense of 'to buy', ie, I've just been to mr T's and b.... some whoopsies...

If I'm not too slow here's the article...now own up which one of us is this in the pic!!!

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1246722/Cover-No-shopping-PJs-barefoot-Tesco-tells-shoppers-supermarket-unveil-dress-code.html

I bring your attention to this bit...

Mother-of-two Elaine Carmody, 24, was one of the first yesterday to be marched out of Tesco by a security guard for wearing her pyjamas in store.
She said: 'I just don't understand it. I go in other shops in my pyjamas and they don't say anything.

'You used to always be allowed in Tescos. But not now, it is ridiculous and stupid. I've got lovely pairs of pyjamas, with bears and penguins on them. I've worn my best ones today, just so I look tidy.'

Good on them! This country is becoming lazier by the minute, unentitled people parking in disabled/child spaces so they don't have to walk far, leaving your car traversing parking lines because you can't be @rsed to find reverse gear and straighten up, and now people can't even be bothered to get dressed?! I wouldn't dream of going shopping in my pyjamas!

Althought admittedly I do live in my nightie and jeans during the day otherwise I spill stuff down my 'real' tops, and sometimes just sling a coat on to go to the shops so no-one can tell.....

Talking of baking, I have 4 peaches that are turning but not going soft at the same time so I need to use them up in baking. Does anyone have any ideas please??

    Morning! :j:j:j

Fudge_Cake, I have a use for those peaches- or for any fruit. It is a lovely fruit tart recipe and the pastry is more crisp, shortcrust, biscuity than flaky. I make millions of these in cupcake tins and freeze them for our lunches:

    275g/9oz/2 1/4c plain flour
    125g/4 oz/ 1/2c sugar
    2 eggs
    few drops of vanilla

mix. roll out the pastry- aim for 1/4 inch/ 1/2 cm at the thickest. Put in a tin (any sort- big or small ones). Put a bit of jam on the bottom- very thinly. Then sprinkle crushed digestive/hovis biscuits on top of the jam (this keeps juicy fruit from soaking into the pastry).

Slice your fruit (PEACHES! ;)) -I usually put an apple and any soft fruit from the garden that I have frozen. The fruit should just be a layer or two, not mounded- Think of an open topped French apple tart with the apples all nicely arranged...

Bake for about 20 mins in a medium hot oven 190-200. and voila!:T

A normal recipe will make two normal sized tarts, or about 24 cupcake sized ones! I don't do anything for a top- but you could make a lattice if you felt creative!

As for Mr. T, no good finds to report. Got the electrical gal to scan a trolley full of party stuff, and she did ... reluctantly... but nothing! Ah well, Sunday is usually a good wobble day! ;)

thanks rosie :) we used to do it as well... he was paying me the money for rent&food(well, his smaller share) beforehand but in the last two months I was too good for him and paid it all myself telling him that he should keep it for the bills and council tax we need to pay this month for the last 3 months since we moved in. We got the bill for council tax today and I learned he doesn't have enough money even for that! ehm, what about the other bills?! He always gets cross when we have the money arguments because I earn more(but I also contribute more and I never highlight the fact because of all the man pride b...s...t) but somehow(mr T:p) I also manage to spend less on rubbish I/we don't NEED and my mobile phone bill is 3 times less then his(actually I need to look into that then...)... anyway I don't care, gave him the 150GBP he was short of as I always do because I know he will use his credit card and I HATE debts :o I'm fully aware it's not right to do so too :o

well it got even better as there was part 2 of our argument so I also learned that he HATES living in London(ok, it was my idea but he accepted the reasons and agreed) and wants to go out more(right, why don't YOU plan something Mr?!)

he also has a problem with me spending too much time HERE :o he claims I don't have as much time for him anymore(he might have a point:o) so I decided I will try and improve on that one :(

he also dragged out a few other problems he has which we already argued about but he always does it: waits until everything piles up and goes off big time

Anyway he's 'on call' this week and got a job so he's out now :j
    :rotfl:

but before going he tried to calm it all down like he always does as he can't be angry for long but I told him we'll talk tomorrow

Soo soo sorry for the rant but had to get it off my chest :o:o:o

You re guy doesn't seem to know when he is well off.

Seems like you love him so you do really need to come up with a plan. i wouldn't pay mobile phone bills because if he doesn't feel the pain how is he going to learn.

If he doesn't want to live in london where does he want to live? Essex, hertfordshire. Will that work when considering commutting.

Do your best to sought things out but stick to your guns. Maybe your guy is insecure. Maybe you can go out to free stuff together- free cinema tickets etc. Seems like your man thinks money is everything right now. Show him its not as important as he thinks.

You re a really clever gogetting, resourceful, sucesssful woman and instead of manning up, he wants you to be his mummy right now.

You love him so bring out the best in him, be cruel to be kind.

Always letting my OH know quitting work (cos he hates) it is not an option. whoever has time off does the cooking. When i'm on mse i'm not complaining about the football.

My OH has been out of work twice and times have been really tough. Had plenty of rows over money but not for a long time. OH working for last 2 years but he only earns minimum wage. Still he does his bit and doesn't complain about mse or cheap stuff. Only thing he complains about is lack of space. But that is true cos we live in one room until we buy our own place.

His face was a picture when i gave him his christmas presents. Jean Paul Gaultier aftershave, doubled up before christmas and have tesco credit card, two matalan clearance jumpers, 1 pound bogof and fcuk products from boots glitch.:rotfl:

Was a happy chappy, when i gave him the old speckled hen DTD stuff too.

I really felt for you cos i have been there, it's not often i cry but OH can do it to me.

Just don't quit MSE etc and don't change for him, it doesn't work.
