I recently did some of the training to become a Freecycle mod. They make it quite clear that their raison d'etre is to save usable items from being added to landfill.

It is not about someone giving to someone more needy and posts which include a sob story are discouraged as the recipient's needs are irrelevant.

Still, in the real world, I love to give something via Freecycle and feel it is going to a home where it is needed or will at least be appreciated rather than to someone who is planning a car boot sale with it and I'm sure most people feel that way - whatever the real intent of the site.

Anyway, whoever is the recipient - nothing excuses bad manners.

  • I am planning an assault on T later and have this on my list (thanks to OPs):

    Pantene Classic Care 400ml - 8701 - 99p
    Pantene Colour Protect & Volume 500ml - 7935 - 99p
    Pantene Colour Protect & Volume Conditioner 400ml - 7997

Could someone kindly tell me if the top two are shampoo or conditioner and the expected price on the third one?

I need to buy conditioner to shampoo on a 2 to 1 ratio - God knows what dd does with it all...

Oh - and while I think of it - for those in Sw1nd0n - the upstairs scanner is working - funny language and bit erratic, but does seem to work  Though you have probably known that for ages :rotfl: I am probably very behind!!!! :o

Lol! I wish they'd fix it though, or at least remove that stupid cardboard thing that's always in the way!

    Thank you :o

I never posted because I've tried so many times recently to hope that things could be fixed and I'd live a fairy tale life. Unfortunately week after week I get more and more disappointed but become more and more realistic that I was only good enough to help raise his other kid and allow him to have a nice lifestyle and provide him with more kids that he can 'play daddy' with when it suits. It hurts like you wouldn't believe to know that his other kid means more than his sons. I love those boys so much and it breaks my heart that he's allow to play happy familes each weekend, tearing me and the boys apart from eachother and all the while the boys are too young to understand what is happening. In future years if asked, I won't lie to them about why we split. I couldn't continue being married to someone who gave his ex extra money behind my back, someone who when questioned by his ex about the new (2nd hand) car we were getting changed his mind and went for a cheapie so his ex couldn't complain that we were getting a car and not giving her extras. Someone who complained that I bought our son a £20 cot instead of using one that had been lying out in the garage for months. Someone who gave off because I bought some juice for DS1 and didn't get anything for his kid (who wasn't even there at the time). Yes, it really was that pathetic.

I've not had a penny from him since we split although he is at least paying the mortgage - well this is what happens when it's just his name on the mortgage and he was escorted off the premises by the local plod.

So there we have it for those who like to make fun of me and my situation. Wanna swap?

I'm guessing you looked into legal aid? I would like to think you were entitled but the screwy way things work in this country means you're probably not, but here's the link anyway x

I do that when I put a list of stuff on freecycle and get the same replies from at least 60-70% of respondents, it's so rude! I think "I'm not giving my stuff to you for free if you can't even be bothered to ask nicely, BOG OFF!!"

Is there any chance of having the recipe - these welsh cakes of yours sound absolutely lush!!! will love you for ever :A:A:A

    8oz plain flour
    3oz sugar
4oz "fat" I use half salted butter and half lard - can use all butter if preferred
    ½ tsp baking powder
    pinch nutmeg
    2oz currants
    1 egg
    splash of milk if needed

Rub the fat and flour together as if making pastry so you get the breadcrumb stage
Chuck rest of dry ingredients in
add the egg to form a soft dough (use milk if too dry)
Roll out on a floured board
cut into circles (I use a drinking glass)
pop onto a heated bakestone for 2-3 mins per side
Use a non stick frying pan instead of a bakestone
Place on a wire rack to cool and sprinkle with sugar

This was mentioned as a bargain a little while ago:

Daz Liquid Summer Flower Power 20 wash for £1.01 or Violet Blossom for 99p

Apologies, not sure of the OP - think it may have been MMW? - but many thanks to whoever it was.

I couldn't find it at that price at the time but it appeared yesterday in my local Extra. Not sure if all stores have the same basic layout but in mine the first aisle always has pallets of 'bargains' down the left hand side - Branston beans at half price at the moment for example. Anyway, the Daz has appeared there. Smells quite nice (well, the yellow one does anyway) and very good value at around 75% off normal price.

Not the ones above but I scanned some Pantene last night and they came up as the sel prive £3.89 :(
Are the smaller ones scanning cheap as there are some in the local express store with no sel.
    :(
