But if the OP had stated a Muslim family then that isn't something they can see. Plus they might not know that the family are Muslim.
To me it was just like the OP had said 'that guy that is always there in a big red coat' It was just a description. I'm sure no offence was meant.

Of course they can see, as the op knows its a burka they would have full known knowledge that a burka is what muslim women wear. Comon its not in fashion and all women are wearing them.

What nikililla said that she describes this a old man with a hat to her mum, that makes common sense as her mum has already seen the person and so forth. But on an internet forum i dont get why a description of any sort is needed.

no offence was prob meant its just a sensitive subject thats all. i really dont want to go on about it. Sorry i have a 1 yr old having tanstrums at the moment.

I agree, if OP had said 'Muslim family' someone whould have said 'whats the familys religion got to do with it?'

I took it that it was just a description too, and that no offence was ment or implied.

TV host Davina McCall – who presents The Biggest Loser – last night tweeted her sorrow at hearing the sad news that The Biggest Loser’s fitness trainer Angie Dowds had killed herself.

is just not the same as:

Apart from describing the whoopsier as "a woman" how else would she be described? Blond/brunette/red head? Young/middle aged/old? Black/brown/red/blue coat? etc. It's just a description.

I think that when you try to describe someone quickly, you tend to say whatever first strikes you about them. Unfortunately your subconcious plays a part in this and expose certain prejudices that you have been programmed to have whilst you are growing up. Not saying this is necessarily racist or a reflection on yourself. To me racism is conciously and deliberately linking race or religion to an action or habit that could equally be the characteristic or behaviour of someone of different background:)

Re the Burkha description, as someone said, you can't describe them any other way because there's nothing else to distinguish, hair colour etc, no-one would take offence at anyone saying "the red-haired lady" or "the man in the hat". I do think one can be too quick to jump on the race issue when there isn't an issue.

I think I saw another post about a whoopsie scrum involving a mobilty scooter ... again a description of an event and the individual involved ... not a comment on all people using mobility scooters.

I didn't take the OP as a slur on Muslims, women or families who go en masse to whoopsie ... just a visual desription (no offence intended) of meyhem around the veggies ... which TBH sounds quite comical to me.
