    Morning all,
BRAMBLE I'm glad you arrived safe and sound. Hope the rest of your visit goes well.
MEANMARIE, Plleased to hear the funeral went well. Sounds like there was a good family turn out.
My friend's Funeral went well, about 200 people crammed into a small church, it was the same church DF and his wife were married in. I saw friends I hadn't seen in a long time, lots of remenicing sp. and catching up. The buffet was amazing, shame I couldn't try anything. The family put £1000 behind the bar for drinks that flowed like the Thames.
Got home at 5pm and made DH liver & bacon, I had Consomme as I'm not allowed solid food now. Boring. :(
Today I need to make a start on our Tax Return, a job I hate. Also finish ironing and vacume, no baking today as I might be tempted. I have enough sliced roast beef in the freezer for DH's dinner tomorrow. Tonight he can have Gammon egg & chips.
Off to catch up and put WM on.

    Morning all

Haven't been about as much this week. Ended up working from home this week as DS2 (19) is struggling with his mental health at the minute - stress over his Dad and work has just been too much for him. He seen the doctor on Tuesday and we are waiting for an 'urgent' referal which will take 1-2 weeks.

However 'normal' life goes on around this and I've managed to stick to slimming world (even though I really felt a need to hit the chocolate tin this week I resisted!) and I've lost over half a stone since the day after boxing day. Working at incorporating SW recipes into family meals not so I'm not cooking twice and its much easier. We had bacon burgers with coleslaw, potato wedges and beans last night (recipe from this months magazine) and it was lovely. Spaghetti Carbonara tonight - we had it last friday and it is fabulous!

Have a mystery shop to do today and the rest of it will be spent cleaning i think - things have slipped this past week. DH is working and I'm hoping DS2 will come over so I can make sure he is eating and resting. The boiler is broken in their flat so they have no heating and no hot water at the moment and their landlady doesnt seem to have an ounce of urgency in her. I can feel a battle coming on with that one.

    Enjoy your weekend x

    Morning everyone :hello:

tru - I used to have a ZX Spectrum 128k. DH flogged it at a car boot sale to someone who collected computers from the '80s for £10!

flutterbyuk25 -just let us know when we need to buy the hat :D

Well, it was lovely to have a lie-in this morning. My normal get up time during the week is 5.40am, so anything is a lie-in in comparison to that! :) We're going to watch my "boys" later, the Leicester Tigers. The kick off today isn't until 5pm, which means that we've got the rest of the day ahead of us first... MIL is cooking us lunch, which is sort of a double-edged sword. She's lovely, but she doesn't half talk about a load of non-news; no wonder FIL has very selective hearing! Anyway, they want to hear all about DH's new job and I can't deny them that (and obviously the promise of free food!).

    Jobs for today:
    wash our work shirts
    change the bed -another wash!
search for sale items which could be used as presents!
had a little catalogue from The Book People, wonder whether I can find presents there too?

    Have a good day.

  • Morning All!

Slow day today, have to get DS to do his homework! They just get so much, I have no idea how I am going to get him to do it all on the weeks when he's at his dad's at the weekend! It's becomming a right struggle because he still needs some parental supervision and my Ex doesn't provide it...! But 3 peices of Homework, plus reading and timestables is a lot!

Anyway, i'm going for a walk in the park later!

Roo and I are still here :D

    Have a great day!

    Mornng all,

Bright and beautiful here, got one load on the line, and another in the wm, should all dry well today.

Not sure what we are up to today, but I also NEED a calender, would be lost without one, also the window in the utility room seems to have a damp / mould problem, so I think I may take the blind down give everything a good wash and re paint with anti mould paint.

Pizza and salad for tea, might do some garlic bread too, just as we were sitting down to eat last night OH's friend turned up, (he always turns up at dinner time, I think its cos I fed him once) but this time he bought his girlfriend who was lovely, but I had my PJ's on :o:o:o at 6 in the evening, did not get out of my chair the whole time, god knows what she thinks of me :rotfl:

Dog to walk later on, and we need to speak to the neighbours re the fence, not sure who's it is.

    Have good days all xx
  • Hi folks:hello: , haven't posted on this thread for a very long time, but thought new year, lets start as I mean to go on. Plan to put a bit of brisket in the slow cooker as soon as I can peel myself away from the laptop.

Had a massive clearout of the loft over xmas and still have some bits and pieces to go through later for tip or car booty, and need to put some of our camping cook stuff in the caravan. We got given the caravan last year from my parents its an 80's Bailey. on further investigation though hubby discovered the whole front end was rotten as a pear so has completly rebuilt that end. Can't wait for the spring so we can get away in it. I'm planning on making it look quite vintage so want to make some pretty little CK style curtains.

The sun is shining so better get my butt into action have a good day folks.

Morning all, didn't get on yesterday, been up to my eyes, work is busy at the moment, good complaint I think. Anyway had BIL and his OH last night for visit, two bottles of wine shared by the girlies so feeling wooly headed, not a good move today of all days. Had to be up with the lark this morning, heading to Galway for the weekend - working! OH is a photographer and this wedding show was very good for business last year so here's hoping this year is better, we really could do with it, finances have been in the doldrums since the Celtic Tiger upped and left! Know what you mean Sistercas about sorting out finances, for us, we seem to do it every week, some weeks good some not, but we manage, just about. Not much OS this weekend, no time, so house is like a tip, but will have to stay that way for the time being, Last night made a huge vat of bolognese sauce for the freezer, local SM had special on mince, so bought 4 lots, just used 1, made 14 portions of bolognese, using lots of carrots, onions and lentils, garlic and used cartons of tomato juice, left over from Christmas, it has thickened nicely and tastes lush and rest of the mince in freezer already. I will turn some of bolognese sauce into chilli, shepards pies etc to ring the changes. Washing on the airer, no point in putting it on the line so will remain there for the weekend, hopefully I will get to put it away when I get back on Sunday night. My car still off the road which is a complete pain in the !!! but funds will be found at end of the month to get it repaired so thats not bad. Thinking about you today Bramble, hope it all goes well, and your grandad gets a great sendoff but on the other hand great news on the wedding, ...its very exciting and will give you something to focus on. Flutterby, delighted you are enjoying your new man, nothing like the feeling having just met someone you really like...JulieG, get Roo to get a move on, I am on tenderhooks wondering if today is the day! Girlies, I would love to know how you all insert smilies etc in your posts. Also, how do you see peoples avators? I don't see them when I log in, what am I doing wrong? Got to go, OH chomping at the bit, we have a 2 hour drive ahead of us, oh joy, Hugs and high fives to anyone else out there who wants one, I know I have just skimmed the thread this morning and not taken in everything from today and yesterday but please keep well, enjoy your weekends whatever you decide to do. Most likely will not get back online until Sunday night maybe.
Cait, at long last signing on:rotfl:

    Morning All,

Already been out to the bank and picked up my Guardian, not cheap on Saturday but we do read it all week
FB so glad things are going well with your new man:love:
Bramble congrats it seems love is in the air:heartsmil

I've heard some good reports about Mr M's recently, am going to give it a try.

Dh is just making us a bacon butty and then a quick clean around before we go and start in the loft:eek: not looking forward to it but it needs to be done. AF is visiting so not a lot of energy at the mo.

Need to put a wash on. DS3 needs to revise for his science exams next week
Have a chicken that needs stripping, only used some of the breast so will turn the leftovers into something for tea. Maybe chicken pasta bake.
Anyway thats all for now, will pop back later, enjoy your Saturday

    Morning all:wave:
Had a good start to the day - managed to clear out one of my wardrobes and my drawers, filled a bag to take to Charity Shop, and found 2 Radley handbags and a Radley purse which i forgot I had:eek: Now my dilemma is because Ive been oblivious to them for so long, should I start using them and enjoying them, or flog em?! Need to ponder that one. WM AND TD both on, weather a bit murky and damp today and Im doing too much tidying/cleaning/decluttering to have the airer out. I do solemnly pledge that when TD is finished, I will iron all items which need it and put away immediately:D
Had a bit of a wander round town yesterday, and popped into Clintons. Their 75% off Sale is brill - I got over £25 worth of wrapping paper, gift tags, gift bags and fancy tissue paper for £6:j
My landing currently looks like a bombsite, all the bags and boxes with Xmas Decs anbd stuff are waiting to go in the loft, just need DH to get on and do it, then I can start hoovering up there....
Did the first proper shop of the New Year at Asda yesterday, some decent deals in the veg department, massive heads of broccoli, 3 huge Spanish onions, and packs of salad tomatoes, all 50p each. So todays soup will be Broccoli and Stilton (using LO Stilton from Xmas as Im still trying to demolish the Great Cheese Mountain of 2011!)
Tea tonight is DH's job - he decided he wants steak and wants to try cooking it a la Heston Blumenthal so its over to him, no cooking for me tonight:j
Must press on and get DH into the loft proto - might even let him back down again afterwards :rotfl:
Happy and productive days to you all, and if you need a hug, well you know the rest
Don't put it DOWN, put it AWAY! ;)
You can't expect to Fly if you're still wearing your pyjamas! :j:j:j

    Morning All

Flutterby - Things seem to be going well for you, enjoy yourself!
Tru - Sorry to hear about your job but admire the way you are dealing with it. These things happen for a reason so chin up and something will come your way.
Bramble - Hope your trip goes ok, hugs to you.
Beth - Look after you for a while, will be thinking of you on Monday.
jc - Hope DS gets the help he needs.

Anyway, that's me home again, had a good few days visiting - yesterday was the best as my friend took myself and DD to the ski slope in Manchester. I haven't been skiing for a couple of years and was terrified at the thought! Nearly had a panic attack at the top the first time but soon got into my usual too fast and no style way of skiing. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Drove home last night and the weather wasn't the best but could have been worse.

The inside of the house seems fine (just cold as we left when there was a raging gale and a power cut) but there are loads of slates missing off the roof and some of the flashings are waving about in the wind. Will need to see how much it will cost to fix or should I go through insurance? Not claimed on insurance before, will it mean a higher premium next year? Any help would be appreciated.

Having a slow day myself, DD at work at 2. Will put some washing on in a mo when the bags are unpacked, have made soup which smells lovely but that could be in on the os front I'm afraid.

    Take care. XX
