So you have an all in one? My virgin is a separate modem and router

Yes, we used to have a Virgin modem and used our own router. TBH it was a far easier set up and we never had any issued. They stopped supplying the modems and instead gave us an all-in-one when we moved house. Initially it wasn't a problem but you did notice downloading large files became increasingly difficult. Since I upgraded my laptop though I've had nothing but trouble. A lot of the tips I've had from people like yourself has significantly improved my browsing performance but streaming media from the likes of Youtube is absolutely shocking, so much so my 3G connection on my phone is much quicker.
I have heard that the new Virgin Media 'Superhub' allows you to connect your own router so I'm not sure whether to upgrade or not. I've also read about people having all sorts of problems with them too which is a real put off.

Strange. My mate just upgraded virgin and was told he was getting an 'all in one', but they actually sent a separate modem and router

That is odd, think I'll give them a ring.

Yes , that is odd. From what I read recently the installers have been told to install 'only the Super-Hubs'!

For what it's worth I'm on Virgins 50mbit service on Windows 7 64bit and it's solid as a rock , I also have a second PC with Win 8 Developer Preview using a wireless connection and that works fine too ... both full speed as far as I can tell.

    ... but I don't have the dreaded 'Super-Hub'!!
