Basic MOT fail stuff and easily to a greater or lesser extent spotted...why didn't you? and why did you not request a '12 month MOT'?....which I suggest most people would have?

Apart from tyres the rest isn't that easy to spot especially if you don't have a clue about vehicles

Errr... there are three points here.. missed or not...
    1) the dealer has broken the law, as you say.
    2) you bought a defective vehicle.
    3) you drove an unroadworthy vehicle.

Please let us not pretend that the dealer is the only one to have made a mistake, or to have broken the law.

Not as I say, but the Trading Standards:

The dealer will have committed a criminal offence if they:

     sell an unroadworthy car

I am not a mechanic and when you buy a car from a dealer you expect it to be roadworthy.
When it is MOT'd and Taxed saying 'Prepared and Ready to Drive Away'

Yes, I agree with all that.

All I am saying is that you seem happy to overlook your responsibilities... namely to ensure that any vehicle you drive is roadworthy at the time of driving it.

You have after all, driven the thing 'around 100 miles'.

Dodgy tyres, leaking shocks and drive shaft boots are not difficult to cover by asking for 12 months MOT as most would though. OP...what were you thinking!
